Hillary Clintons statement on her comments about the Reagans' record on HIV and AIDS:
"While the Reagans were strong advocates for stem cell research and the finding of a cure for Alzheimers disease, I misspoke about their record on HIV and AIDS, For that, I'm sorry."
Rachel Maddow MSNBC

It's nice to get a clear, unqualified "I'm sorry" instead of the standard politician "if you felt x or misunderstood me, i'm sorry".
**************
Except she didn't misspeak.
I sarcastically asked in another thread: "Did she mix up AIDS and stem cell research? Coulda happened to anyone...right?"
and got this reply from another DUer: "She specifically said "the other point I want to make" before bringing up AIDS.
And she had already been discussing Nancy supporting Alzheimer's research and stem cell at length.
This was no mix up."
If that is factually correct, her apology is as much BS as her original statement. Unless...
....one doesn't think Hillary even thinks before she speaks. It's just like so many words.
She's not uninformed or clueless, but she just opens her mouth and words spill out...? Does she mean any of them? Who knows?
And Rachel Maddow and her MSNBC crew are blatantly pro Hillary. It's really embarrassing, and such a disappointment.

(25,699 posts)It's why I can't but roll my eyes when her supporters pretend to give half a fuck at a rolling donut about white privilege. What, except for the gigantic Hillary Clinton-shaped exception?

(17,656 posts)She acted like she never even heard about it.
Yet, there she was on Twitter, defending every single lie, gaffe, or goof that Hillary made that very same day -- sometimes within an hour of Hillary screwing up again.
I think Rachel dreams of a chance to be in Hillary's administration.
Ain't never gonna happen.

(6,604 posts)That respect has eroded over time. Whatever she agreed to in order to keep her job with Comcast when they brought out the chainsaws, I'm done with her.

(1,727 posts)show on Air America. I was fucking overjoyed when she got her show on MSNBC.
It's a shame that it's come to this.
Given the decisions that management of that station has made recently, I just can't trust the political opinions, expressed on or off air, from any I the remaining "progressive" hosts. It's pretty obvious that Comcast has fired, demoted or forced out anybody who's not on message.

(6,604 posts)My only news-related regret when I swore off cable was going without MSNBC, particularly Maddow. That has certainly changed.

(11,546 posts)as to who she appears to be now. I remember her radio show. She was thoughtful, a lot more objective, and seemed to look for the truth.

(17,505 posts)Yous guys! And I mean this for more than just SoapBox....
Rachel is very disappointing...but she's not Joe Scarborough, y'know. She is very bright and when it comes to informing people about complicated matters and histories the REPUGS want the voting population to think are simple, black and white, or other than they really are, she is great... thorough and often insightful with new directions to come at a problem.
But she ain't doing this.... her very appeal factor.... for the Hilster. She is shilling.
It's sad, but it doesn't make her useless. She is still very very good at intelligently vivisecting Republicans.
