Three Posts for the Price of One
Things I think I know...
- I don't know why I expected otherwise. I really don't. I went to bed feeling pretty good about the night and I wake up to Armageddon. I frequently post about betting odds and the like because I grew up as the daughter of many family members involved with gambling. I know the terms, my fiancé has accounts on the sites, I know a very good amount. Yesterday, Hillary was an overwhelming favorite in all of the Southern States. She was also the favorite in Minnesota, where she lost. She was also an overwhelming favorite in Massachusetts (You had to put up almost 800 to just make a 100 profit on her there. That's big. Perspective? Carolina Panthers needed just 240 to win 100 in the Super Bowl and they were considered good sized favorites). Bernie meanwhile won every state he was favored in and won one in Minnesota that he was not supposed to win. I get delegates. I get the math. But last night as far as states go? By every metric, betting 538, bing, etc. Bernie won more states than he was supposed to. But we hear very little of that.
- Going forward it is obvious that there is a serious uphill climb. Supporters of Bernie have already waved the white flag in the GD-P forum and that's fine. Leave. The cause and the movement are not for the faint of heart. Speaking of odds, he is favored to win 3 of next week's 4 contests as of this writing (Kansas, Nebraska and Maine). From there his path back is to pick up a state or two that he is not expected to win. (Pick from Michigan, Illinois, Florida and NY). A tough task indeed, but not impossible.
- I am not on a high horse, but I am disgusted with a great number of Hillary supporters. And after last night they have us dead and buried, but want to welcome us back to them with open arms. I came here from another site because I loved reading the content here. That group is absolutely toxic. The ones who I speak to privately and respect know who they are. And I am aware that the Sanders supporters have been equally aggressive. Here is where I can't deal: Sanders supporters want to talk ISSUES. They want to hear about what Hillary is actually going to do on a given day. Team Clinton CONSISTENTLY responds with smiley faces, little laughing yellow men, one liners that are not about the topic and of course, insults. They can't defend their own candidate so they have become de facto cheerleaders and spirit squad. It's ridiculous. And when they come calling for me and others who think like me going forward for help and support, I'll have my little yellow smiley guy ready. Because I will be voting for whatever candidate is the most progressive in November.
- Lastly, the calls to drop out are ludicrous. She didn't drop out and won 21 states. I expect Bernie to match that and go even further. Win or lose, this fight is nowhere near over.
