Vaping, vapers and oil.....

I am considering purchasing one but only have tried it once so I know nothing at all about it except that it knocked me on my ass. I met a guy training his pet turtle how to walk on a leach at my favorite dog park and he offered me a hit. I have only smoked indica daily with top shelf weed so I don't know ANYTHING about buying one, using one and the oil as well as prices and brands. I am on a budget and want the most bang for my buck (I only smoke at home to be able to sleep). Any advice or suggestions?

I was in the same boat, so I admitted my ignorance to the budtender and asked lots of questions.

I do know that cheap ass cartridges clog easily, leading to frustration, so spring for the higher quality cartridges if you can. I learned the hard way.

I really like vaping oil. No smell and no fuss, and I sleep like a baby after.

The $28 cartridges clogged much easier. So it is best to get the $35-$40.

Hmmm, here in the not so civilized world of the MMJ-no adult use cannabis state of Maryland the very idea of seeking info from a budtender feels alien. One day, hopefully soon, I’ll have the chance to speak with this “budtender” you speak of. Sanity is spreading, albeit too slowly, eastward. New England soon. MidAtlantic? Who knows?!

I have the pen part (battery) so I just need to keep buying "Cartridges." Some come flavored and some come regular (With the cannabis smell, which is great for me.) The pens cost $10 and come with a USB charger cap. A full charge should last the entire cartridge which is about 100 hits or so. The 1/2 gram cartridges are between $28 and $40.

It is the way I have been doing it for a few months now. You can vape a hit just about anywhere and nobody is the wiser.

Have fun!!

5. I highly recommend the "Dr. Dabber" vape pen

I tried some of the more "disposable" types, and found the main problems with many of them are 1) they leak unless you keep them upright at all times and NEVER leave in the car, 2) they stop working after a while-- then you have unused product in a sealed container, which is wasted money, and 3) many have a distinct chemical smell and can actually irritate my throat (I'm pretty sensitive).

I'm not really much of a "daily" user, but when I want to partake, I don't want to dick around. So I read a bunch of reviews, and then bought the Dr. Dabber. It uses magnets to hold the three main pieces together (which is much easier than dealing with threaded screw-in components--especially if any sticky vape oil gets in there). It doesn't leak, and looks pretty innocuous. It has three heat settings, and can also be temporarily turned off with 5 quick clicks (to prevent accidentally engaging the activation button when it's in your pocket or purse).

It charges quickly with a regular USB charger (the other end is connected to the pen itself via another magnetized quick-connector). There are 3 different "chambers" which can be easily swapped out (magnets again--I cannot recommend this enough) to use the right one for your particular product of choice. I prefer a wax or "crackle" type of product, as opposed to oils, which can be very messy and often have a chemically taste.

I paid about $100 for mine about 2 years ago and it's still working great. Vaping, with the right product (sans chemicals), is much milder on one's throat than actual buds, because it burns at a much lower temperature. Another plus: The telltale "pot smell" is practically nonexistent.

You can buy it online or go to a pot store in states where it's legal. The people who work there (referred to as "budtenders&quot take their jobs quite seriously. I find they are often very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. It's a great time to live on the West Coast!

I hope this is helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions. And no I am not affiliated with them in any way.

or chemical taste. Since I only smoke at home, before bed and when I wake up and need to get back to sleep it doesn't need to be hidden. I saw a You Tube video before I posted and the guy started to get into threading and positive and negative connections and heated coils and I got lost. Too confusing. I like your idea and price range...easy and affordable as well as durable. Are the prices for wax, flower, and oil about the same(as far as ratio is concerned $/effect)?

they're all pretty much equal in terms of ratio-to-effect, from what I can tell. The wax is less messy as I mentioned. I scoop a tiny amount out (about the size of a pencil lead) into the chamber, which lasts for a very long time (days or even weeks, depending on frequency) About $50 of wax lasts me many months, based on a few hits every few days or so. Plus it burns down to nothing, when it's gone it's gone. No cleaning or scraping resin like in the old days with buds and a pipe/bong.

For me, the Dabber is very simple to use, and I'm not big on fussy or complicated technology. Once every couple of months I recharge it and refill the product.

I would definitely recommend some kind of vape pen if you'll be using it when you're sleepy. As another person mentioned, there are many types that are completely self-contained and disposable, for about $50-60 or so you can buy something that's ready to go anytime, at the press of a button, that never needs charging, and shouldn't clog on you. Anything cheaper than that, and you are likely to run into issues. For me the chemical thing is a deal-breaker, but my husband buys these every few months, and likes them just fine.

One final thought: Have you ever tried CBD tincture? If you're interested in relaxation/sleep, as opposed to altering your mood, that might be a good option for you. It's also helpful for pain relief. I put several drops in some water and within 30 minutes I just feel relaxed, less stressed, but not actually "high". The kind we got most recently has a combination of both THC and CBD (it's called "Mama Lou's CBD sleep tincture"; the label says 5MG THC and 30MG CBD. I took some a little while ago, and I feel a "little" mood elevation, but mostly just chill. The cost per dose in relation to effect seems to be about the same (maybe $40 for a 30ML bottle, which if taken every day would be around $1.30 per day). Just throwing another option out there for you to think about.

All the best!
