Why We Get Addicted to Certain Foods...Last edited Sun Mar 14, 2021, 01:54 PM - Edit history (1)
....It is not complicated, but rather simple. When we are young, we like certain foods. Some of those foods are very
addictive to some people. Here are the worst three: (but there are many many more):. SUGAR, 2. SALT..3.CANDY...(etc) Now each of us have our own horrible enemy foods. Many of us have different ones than above..(like PIZZA) After awhile, we like those foods so much that we want.. more, more more more, and even more,!!!! We love those enemy foods..and we cannot stop...Now, this isn't booze, and you don't have to be a certain age to eat those foods. In fact ....sugar cereals ..are one of the prime enemies that get us started. Those cereals are ..."legal for all ages"......Is that right?.....I started in with something called ......3 Musketeers ...at age 4 or 5....and .......... NOW....that is NOT A CEREAL......IT IS .....CANDY..(no age limit on candy either, you can start in at age 2)..... Here is the bottom line...We like those foods so much, that we get addicted to those foods..(or our own enemy foods) ..............and this idea is hard to believe...read carefully............................................. ....................THERE ARE ABOUT 100 MILLION FOOD ADDICTS IN THE U.S.A.!!!!................. ..............So, one in 3 of us in the U.S.A. have a food problem of some kind............................ ..............(I couldn't believe it when I met my first anorexic person in O.A.) .................all kinds of eating problems, some kinds you cannot imagine............................................ ..............So, keep coming back...it will help you to deal with this addiction...This addiction is manageable, ................but dealing with it is NOT EASY...Why say that???? One reason............Because: IF IT WERE EASY.....IT WOULD BE EASY...AND THIS IS NOT EASY.!!! .........3 more thoughts: Realizing the above, and going to Overeaters Anonymous saved my life and kept me ...........alive! & I am one of many people who can say that......

1. As someone who had a major sugar addiction,
and have the damaged dentition to prove it (As a child, I would sneak candy to bed
and bathe my teeth in sugar.) it is not the food that is our enemy. Our battle is with ourselves. We must retrain our brains to choose healthy foods and to do that we must eat healthy foods until our bodies choose these foods over the unhealthy ones. I am now at the place where I can eat sugar on occasion; but do not crave it. I eat a low glycemic diet with lots of vegetables and some fruit. I have happily maintained a sixty pound weight loss for over nearly eleven years with this eating plan. |
