Like button in DU
I sent this to the administrators but thought I would start a thread.
Has the site ever considered adding a "Like" button at the bottom of peoples post & replies? I see comments that I like or agree with and it would be nice to be able to like them so the poster knows people agree with or like what they said. I also belong to a Dallas Cowboys messageboard (https://cowboyszone.com/forums/fan-zone.59/) and its a really nice feature. It actually keeps track of how many likes a member has. It would be nice to read something and just click "like" instead of having to reply to the person to just say you agree. on the site I mention they have the Like or Reply right beside each other. Just a thought. I do really enjoy this site.

2. I think we had that years ago. I usually reply with a "+1" within the thread or "K&R" for the OP.

4. Yes, we did. There was also an "unlike" button, as I recall. It wound up with different
groups of posters liking and unliking posts to irritate each other.

3. That thought occurred to me too, but I never acted on it
Good job.
I can’t think of a reason not to enact it, except that it would be extra work for someone. |

9. What's wrong with the "Rec" button?
I wouldn't recommend a post I didn't like.

10. It promotes cliquish behavior.
At times cliquish behavior has been a serious problem here on DU and has even been used by disruptors.
The other side of the coin is alert stalking, but that's easy easily dealt with by revoking posting privileges. It's not so easy to cut people off for "liking" something. Personally, I don't care if anyone "likes" my stuff or not. Constructive comments, good or bad, are welcome. Heck, even if someone simply replies with a smiley, that's more meaningful than an effortless one-click "like." |

11. i had a convo w skinner in ata a while back.
they dont want to see the "fb-ification"of du.
i tried to convince them that the answer to that was to be able to stick a smilie on someone else's post, like how the hearts populate. he said it was an intriguing way to go about it, but it hasnt happened, so... |
