Why don't I see tweets automagically in my browser anymore ?
When DU first started auto-loading tweets, I found it kind of annoying, but now there are so many posts with tweets it's kind of a waste of time having to do the two-step process just to see one line of text or one pic. I don't remember doing anything to turn tweets off, but I think they stopped after I upgraded Firefox (NOT positive about that) or maybe after I changed some uBlock Origin settings. Anyone have the same experience ? What's the fix ?

1. I'm finding the videos in the Tweets don't play unless I restart my computer.
I have been using Chrome.

3. Well, I tried it this way for several months, but I'd like to try the other way for a while.
Mostly, I'm not missing anything, but sometimes ...

10. Worked for me, thanks.
Last edited Sun Feb 17, 2019, 09:45 AM - Edit history (1) I had the same problem. I remember changing that setting but didn't put 2 and 2 together.

5. Check the Content Blocking settings in FireFox for DU.
If you open this link to a thread with a tweet in the OP in a new tab, is there a shield
![]() ![]() If so, click it to bring up the control panel and click the 'Disable Blocking For This Site' button. If that doesn't fix it (or blocking in FireFox isn't enabled), try turning off uBlock just for DU on that thread linked above. If that fixes it, you probably need to whitelist twitter.com and twimg.com somehow - I'm not familiar with uBlock so I can't give detailed help on that. Although if it seems to be uBlock and you need assistance figuring out the settings, I could install it temporarily to try to figure it out. |

6. I just tried whitelisting twitter and it had no effect.
I've already tried turning off uBlock and tried it again after whitelisting those two site. Makes no difference.
Thanks for the suggestions, I would never have thought of whitelisting Twitter. Really frustrating, because it seemed like I didn't change anything deliberately -- tweets were there one month, gone the next. |

7. Tweets don't embed for me because I have the NoScript add-on installed.
To embed tweets I have to 'Disable Blocking For This Site' for DU in FireFox and also allow scripts from both twimg.com and twitter.com.
Perhaps another add-on you have installed is causing an issue. You could try temporarily disabling all of your add-ons in FireFox to see if tweets appear when none of them running. If you can see them, re-enable your add-ons one at a time and check for embedded tweets to find out which add-on(s) prevent tweets from showing here. If you still can't see them with all your add-ons disabled, it still could be some setting in FireFox to prevent trackers. You should determine that none of your add-ons are the problem before digging into the browser settings further though. |

8. Thanks, I have so few add-ons I seldom think about them. Did try disabling uBlock Origin ...
but I'll try disabling them (all three).

9. I have the same problem in Chrome.
I have an ad blocker (Fair AdBlocker) but DU is whitelisted. Still all I see for posts with tweets is "Link to Tweet" and I have to click to open in twitter. Very annoying.

11. open the options in the menu drop down at the top right
in the content blocking choose standard. See if that does it.
