Mr. sprinkleeninow here.

The Mrs. took a dive in our front hall Thurs evening. Her left shoulder took the brunt end of it. Slab foundation, not wood decking. Also banged her head, thumb and right knee. Thought she smashed her shoulder. Fire dept. and EMTs came and lifted her up on a handled tarp thing because she couldn't get up. She was in excruciating agony. Seven hours in ER. Dislocated shoulder. Doctor chose lidocaine and not put her out. Three people held her down while she squeezed my hand off. Yelled and screamed. Now the after effects.
She asked me to tell you and welcomes all prayerful and good thoughts and "vibes"
She has kindred spirits here on DU and sends me serious and fun stuff in emails or screen shots.
Thanks to all,
Mr. s

Hope all is well and that the Mrs. is on the mend soon.

I know exactly what it feels like. My dog pulled me down a couple of years ago and my shoulder took the full brunt of landing on a storm drain curb. Broke and dislocated my shoulder. I am so sorry that the ER docs didn't knock her out to have the shoulder put back in place. They may have not wanted to chance that since she banged her head. They gave me Propofol (it's what Michael Jackson OD'd on). The ER doc called it "the good stuff". Before they knocked me out they got everybody in place (dr. up on the table w/ me, nurses holding a sheet that was wrapped around me for traction). I was out by the the letter "D" in the alphabet, shoulder was back in place and I was awake in less than 5 min. But they sent me home with a small supply of pain meds, and an appointment in the a.m. to see an orthopedic trauma guy.

If they send her to PT, see if they can give her some type of painkiller to take the edge off for those first sessions. Also, if she's not getting the motion back like they expect, try to get an MRI done (if they haven't done one by that point). I was regaining less than 50% of range of motion and almost no strength gain on my first round (21 sessions) of PT. They found that I also had an unnoticed 3 cm tear in the rotator cuff. After that was fixed, I started from scratch again, but rehabbed back to 95% of original range of motion. I have diabetes, so I think that slowed recovery down a bit as well. It took about a year, but I'm good now (at least as good as I can get at 55yo)

Hope she's managing her pain well and able to get some rest. It was really difficult to find a comfortable position to rest or sleep in. I ended up using rolled couch throws and small pillows to support my arms and back.

so near the holidays.....or anytime for that matter. Time heals, depending on our age. At 71, I heal very slow, LOL.

Hope she first can get some quality rest and then good therapy down the road from here.

This will be challenging for both of you and we wish you good general health through this winter, lots of patience and quick healing.

minimize the impact of this - it's serious for both of you; it's serious for us too.

If she hasn't voted, how will you be able to make that happen?

I feel all your lovingkindness coming my way.
Hospital said come back for meds. No guarantee. No thanks. Go to urgent care. Urgent care said I should see my PCP.. I opted to stay put till tomorrow. What did the opioid epidemic cause?? There's this same with antibiotics. My former doc who retired used to ask me what antibiotic I wanted. The Z-pak did squat. Shoulda demanded pain meds from the ER doc. Tylenol does short of squat. I did find some mild hydrocodone/acetaminophen from a dental procedure. That was a Godsend.
[For those concerned for the Mr., he has brawny hands and burly fingers so he came out unscathed from my violent squishing and pulling.😊]
From my heart to all of you kind people, for your thoughts, vibes, plus--💙

I don't know if you can transmit pain relief over great distances, but I will try.

I've heard that Bach is good for reducing pain, especially if you are a "fan".

Yes, pain relief intentions will transmit from spirit to spirit.

I will enjoy some favorite classical. Bach soothes. Also Vaughan Williams and Pärt.
