I have had several bosses tell me they won't hire anyone who comes in after lunch. They think it is a sign you can't get up, dressed and out of the house in the AM. Another boss told me they don't hire anyone who comes in on Thurs and Fri. It means they have been applying and interviewing all week with no success and wonder why.

So when I was looking for a new job I made my plan of attack to get all applications, resumes, and interviews in before lunch and by Wednesday. It always worked. I never spent more than 2 weeks looking for a job.

Remember to advocate for yourself. You are worth it. Even if you will accept the salary, ask for more. The worst they can say is no and you accept what they offer. Or they might say OK.

Remember, the interview starts when you pull into the parking lot. They probably have a "gate keeper" observing you as soon as you walk in. I do not mean to make you paranoid but my current direct co-worker postponed a hand surgery to check out me and the other three finalists (this was only a year and a half ago). Our Director trusts her to give her a good read.

They want to hire someone who will make them money, that is why they are hiring. Find out what it will take to make them money and you will be ahead of most. Salary I want to earn as much as you think I am worth and continue to be worth more! What they don't want to hear is how much sick leave do I get and how much vacation time will I have. Many years ago I was asked on a job application driving a garbage truck and sling garbage in the back of it, if I was a member of the communist party. I put down no because they were not militant enough for me I am an anarchist! I got the job anyway .but I don't recommend doing that.
