Big Pharma Vs Hobby Lobby

Thanks to stupidicus - that poster sparked this idea -

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=5177005

Maybe it's NOT Hobby Lobby we need to reach out to. Maybe it's the makers of Ella, RU, and IUDs we need to reach out to. I'm also aware that it might actually apply to ALL 20 types of BC in the Hobby Lobby case . . .

I've been in an Import/Export/Homeland Security/Secretary of State / Treasury and Federal Law Enforcement role for three years. Prior to that I had successive roles in Marketing in telecom. Last 8 1/2 years at a major big wireless carrier ( yeah I'm an NSA lady - I post among you ).

There is some product manager somewhere at a Big Pharma shaking in their shoes right now.

Especially if they have life cycle management - they are worrying about how to make their numbers. They are going to have to go into an ops or business controls review sometime in the next few quarters and explain why their product is failing.

Unfortunately in this environment they won't be able to offer a white glove service or tipping point proposition to the consumer/end user.

We are so focused on our loss - we can't see THEIR loss.

As stupidicus wrote - Strange bedfellows.

Maybe we need a laser focus on a line of business that has the money to smash Hobby Lobby's "win" to pieces?

I'm in NJ - 7th - everyday I drive up and down 202 past the big Pharma companies. They (Hobby Lobby and the Scrotum Five) are hurting my neighbors bottom line with this. Our Congress Jerk - Leonard Lance was real quick to point out how this was a real win for Religious Freedom on his FB Page last night.

Our D Candidate - she is heart broken. She also has quite a few Pharma employees in her backyard.

Before I take this to her - do you think I'm off base? What would be the risks?

I just think we are skinning this cat wrong.

But if we could flip a district with a Liberal Woman . . . If she could get their money.

There are 17 Medical Device and Pharmaceutical companies in Bridgewater NJ alone.

ETA - a lot of these are in the 7th:

I reached out to her web site copy guy with the list.

Now how to set up a PAC to elect her - my husband is game for up to 20K to set it up.

That would be a HUGE risk - so thank you.

Delay of moving towards single payer.

Also - she would be possibly be on the hook to Pharma.

that kinda open civil war -- should it come to that -- between the business and religious factions in the repub party, is long overdue, even if it is confined to the parties under discussion here. It will be interesting to see how much their bottom line is negatively impacted, and whether or not it will be sufficient to add to the fracturing of the repub party. As I understand it, it only applies to corps that are largely privately owned and not publicly traded, and I've yet to look to see how much of a proportion of all corps that comprises.

For the repub party celebrating this victory, they need to be reminded by all adversely effected -- as well as affected -- that they wouldn't be the first to win a battle but lose the war. Given the likely response from women of all ideological stripes, this could well be the proverbial last straw, and they are in no position to be denying ownership of it.

In response to your question about your being crazy or not, I'd say as long as you are as crazy as you wanna be, as opposed to as crazy as you can be, you'll be alright...lol There's certainly absolutely nothing crazy about allying with Pharma over this -- every straw helps break the backs we'd like to see broken. One could also speculate about how they'd feel about single-payer as well, given the additional revenue that would result in -- assuming the gov stayed outta the drug pricing game, or at least stayed within acceptable limits to them.
