And yes I know he's an asshole, but this is reflective of a lot of what we hear today; young men who are molested are molested. It not some great thing.

Tucker Carlson is the reason we have the Daily Caller, so it’s no surprise that he has abhorrent and dangerous views about sexual assault. But his Monday comments claiming that sexual assault against teenage boys is a victimless crime — which were actually him doubling down on his earlier argument that teen boys love being sexually assaulted by older women — aren’t just ignorant, they’re part of the reason so few men report sexual assault. Because people like Carlson think it makes them wusses.

Carlson’s comments were in response to the arrest of a 42-year-old Texas middle school teacher who gave her 15-year-old student a lap dance. Teachers shouldn’t do this, but Carlson doesn’t see the problem. “There are people out there who believe that there ought to be criminal sanctions against that woman, and I think that’s just deranged,” he said on Fox News’ “Outnumbered” last week. “There’s no victim here.”

When asked Monday why he said that this extremely illegal thing this teacher did isn’t a big deal, he replied, “I said it because it’s true.”

“Notice that the breakdown is along sex lines,” he continued, noting that most of the criticism he received came from women. “The women are upset, and the men understand. But here’s the bottom line: a 15-year-old boy is not a 15-year-old girl. Every man understands this. A 15-year-old boy looks at this as the greatest thing that’s ever happened, and I think for a 15-year-old girl it would be traumatic. That’s just real. I don’t know what to say. I don’t want it to be true, it just is true.”

Carlson saying this isn’t just ignorant — it’s dangerous. All victims of sexual violence are hurt by this kind of stupidity, but his comments actively contribute to a culture in which men feel like they can’t come forward about their experiences of sexual assault because so many are actually raised to believe that they can’t be victims. It’s a really twisted view, but it’s a common one.

1. So, according to Mr Carlsen,

a 15 year-old boy would be happy to have a male teacher diddle him but it's different for girls - or doesn't it work that way either?

As I observed on the Lewinski threads although it takes 2 to consent it only takes one to say no and it is the absolute duty of the authority figure to say "No!"

but sadly not uncommon. Studies show boys are every bit as traumatized by those experiences as girls, yet attitudes like Carlson's deny them even the right to feel bad for being sexually assaulted.

This makes me so angry. It's certainly NOT “the greatest thing that ever happened”. It can ruin your education, future relationships, and make one very suspicious of the motives of any sort of woman, especially older women. Does no one else believe in the "campsite rule" where the older person is always responsible for the safety and well being of the younger person? Does no one have a problem with someone in a position of authority and passing on knowledge to abuse that power to lie, manipulate, and coerce young impressionable students so she can help herself to whatever she wants?

The teacher who took advantage of me pretty much admitted that she targets young Indian/Asian students who are more likely to be raised to obey our elders. I suspect male students are also less likely to report this behavior because it is so humiliating and there just isn't much support or sympathy from anyone. She was straight as an arrow or I think she would have gone after female students too.

But the gender norms that reinforce the 'all teenage boys would love that!' narrative are so dearly loved and cherished by society, it might be a long time before it changes.

7. I don't know if its happening more often or being reported more often

but either way, I have been hearing about this issue much more often in recent years. Its seems to always be in the news somewhere. I'm glad that at least some people are having a problem with it and think its wrong.

There was an episode of ABC's "What would you do" where they dealt with this issue and found that if the boy looks visibly distressed, women, usually mothers of sons, who witness it will step in and do something. Men not so much. Both men and women will step in if its happening to a girl though.

I would say it's the latter. He's one of those guys that believes there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Also a note to idiots, because they keep popping out and spouting this crap: A teacher and/or adult is in a position of power over a child. I'm so sick of these "boys can't get raped!" morons (which almost always happen to be male). Stop telling them that being taken advantage of was some great event in their life, and they shouldn't be hurt by what happened. This is why boys and men won't report being sexually assaulted: nobody understands (also true for girls and women too, but minus the slut-shaming). In this respect, our culture is so screwed up...

The idea that "he must have wanted it since males always want it" just needs to stop. Its promoted by these dirty old men who think of their own sexual fantasies and are focused on the sex, not the abuse of power and coercion. One very rarely hears from the actual person who experienced it, its always someone who has not experienced it. It was on the news once where the boy's father declined to press charges against a female teacher because he seemed to think it was "good" for his son to "get laid', then the poor kid ended up committing suicide.

No matter what, its the adult's responsibility to say no to sex with a child.
