Scrutiny for all - LTE Tampa Bay Times - What's coming around the corner -

Scrutiny for all

I read with interest your front-page political fact-check article on Donald Trump, complete with the unflattering caricature. I am looking forward to your equally fair and balanced report on Hillary Clinton, caricature included.

Your fact check can start off with her little self-aggrandizing lies like dodging bullets in Bosnia, her daughter jogging around the World Trade Center during the 9/11 attack, being named after Sir Edmund Hillary, trying to join the Marines and claiming all of her grandparents were immigrants.

Then you can examine some of the really big recent lies like the Benghazi attack video, having no classified material on her private email server and Donald Trump videos being used for ISIS recruitment. And if you really want to do an in-depth examination of Clinton, look again at Travelgate, her cattle futures trading explanation, her role in the "bimbo eruption" and of course Whitewater. The list is endless.

******************************
Democrats supporting Hillary can ignore this at their peril. This is reason #1,000,000,000 why I support Bernie Sanders for President.

When Brian Williams lied, I did not like it. When Lara Logan lied, I did not like it. When Hillary told the same type of lies, while troops are serving, again, I don't like it. We have the very best ever in Bernie Sanders. Don't think all of this won't be thrown back at Hillary, if she is the nominee. Just my two cent. Letters are already appearing in the Florida newspapers, like the one above.

1. Why are we repeating the viewpoints of an obvious Trump supporter (the LTE author)?

The sooner we realize Clinton, Sanders, O'Malley, and all liberals are on the same side, the better off we'll be.

We know republicans can be sleazy-we don't need to find and print examples. It doesn't help Sanders if it isn't true.

that they have no scruples. I think we all have read about these. I don't think we need to post right wing smears and I think that doing so under the guise of warning us about republicans is foul. YMMV

and sometimes it hurts me to see who I disagree with and other times who I agree with. Because a wacko gets a letter printed in a papers letters to the editor does not make it fair game to print. "Bimbogate"???" Even if that was a thing it doesn't include her. Whitewatergate? already been adjudicated...

It's all garbage re-dished with fresh parsley and I don't want it served...

4. I've long held the belief that the GOP kept their best dirt in deep storage on Hillary.

They were ready to go full force in 08 but didn't have to. I do believe they will bring up all that is mentioned in your post and more. I do believe they had their anti-Hillary attack ads ready to go in 2008 and I also think they have been adding to and refining them ever since in anticipation for her 2016 run. They are keeping the powder dry once again and if she gets the nomination they'll light all fuses.

If she can handle all that will come her way and she herself might, the American people however will get a full dose and I don't think that will serve us well in the general.

6. Since when are we scared of all the lies and smears that the GOP might come up with?

It didn't stop us from nominating Obama in 2012, and it won't stop us from nominating whoever we damn want to this time.

It's hardly breaking news that the GOP doesn't like Democrats, including Hillary Clinton. And I promise you they'll trash anyone we nominate.

10. They will trash anyone we nominate, absolutely. However, the amount of 'trash' they have on Clinton

has got to be several factors larger than any on O'Malley or Sanders. To get at Sanders they'll use the Socialist play, maybe bring up some Russia With Love style horseshit etc. With Hillary, as I mention in a reply above, they have been crafting their narrative for 8+ years. I think they want Hillary to win because they have the greatest smear and slime shit show ever created, ready to roll.

These assholes on the right are crafty swine. Hillary has most material with which to craft shit with.

Last thing I'm going to do is let the GOP smear machine have any influence on how I vote.

And if they want Clinton to win, they're doing a weird job of showing it. They bash her nonstop at their debates, on news shows, with a taxpayer-funded Benghazi committee, etc. They're certainly not trying to promote her at all.

13. Well the right will always attack Hillary, I don't think they've ever stopped.

I do believe that they haven't yet released the Kraken so to speak.

The right wing media and their goons are ALWAYS fighting the left and that was true long before Hillary was running. I do believe that the nasty minds at the top of the GOP have something extra special for the general.

We are going to vote for who we are going to vote for, I am not worried about the political savvy. It's the folks that don't pay much attention except every 4-8 years that their long game is aimed at.

Perhaps I give them too much credit but I never underestimate my enemies.
