Tue Dec 29, 2015, 03:31 PM

so where is the list of 2016 congressional candidates running on Bernie's platform?

The Tea Party made an impact (albeit highly negative) by succesfully electing TP congressmen in 2010. Now we have the Bernie 'revolution,' but I haven't seen the list of candidates running on his platform. Seems odd.

11. You got a problem with Ellison?

He's an excellent congressman, a solid progressive, represents his constituency well, gets re-elected in a walk. He's respected and well-liked in his district. Can't think why you'd find him objectionable, unless it's because he's a for-real progressive and not Third-Way/DLC.

To have coat tails you must first have a coat. Once the nominee is decided we will see who signs up.

One of them told me: "If Sanders wins, we're in trouble"

And then they wonder why rational Democrats are appalled.

5. Interesting question.

The Senator who is NOT up for reelection in '16 works well with Sanders. For example:

http://www.oregonlive.com/mapes/index.ssf/2015/11/jeff_merkley_bernie_sanders_ca.html

My other Senator, who IS running, has worked with Bernie at times, and opposed him at times. I think he's going to have a fight on his hands next November; his support for the TPP has pissed off some of his base, including me. If he doesn't regain that lost ground, he might be in trouble. He did recently join Sanders and Merkley for this, though:

http://dailycaller.com/2015/11/10/these-three-senators-voted-against-increased-defense-spending-bill/

My House Rep? I believe he's the only Republican Rep from my state. He's always safe...but this time, he's getting attacked by a conservative group who says he's a "conservative pretender," lol. If they swing some support away from him, and the Democrat can get some of the crossover votes that gave this region to Obama in '08, we've got a chance.

I hate to day it, but maybe the Tea Party had it right when they decided to infiltrate the legislature before floating a Prez candidate.

We got played. It wasn't ptetty, but t was legal. Taking over state houses with RNC help and Koch money was brilliant and treacherous.

15. Since well before 2010.

And it is one of the biggest questions. Reason it isn't getting answered? Because at the current time, their are hundreds of entities in each state working on it. No umbrella as their should be. Look at Pinellas County Florida. The district lines are a joke and it's blatant what they have done.

Great point. Not sure it is exactly in line with the op. I will cheer it anytime anyone mentions it.

21. There's a Purity Partier attempting to take out Ohio Senatorial candidate Ted Strickland.

The parallels to the Presidential race are sadly similar - Strickland, former Governor and well-respected Democratic Party stalwart is being primaried by P.G. Sittenfeld, a Cincinnati Councilman. Strickland has been endorsed by damned-near everybody, including the state Party and Sherrod Brown. The angry and vociferous Sittenfeld supporters ostensibly have a beef with Strickland's working-class constituents, many of whom come from the coal country of Southeastern Ohio, but their actual animosity comes from Strickland's Establishment bona fides and support and, moreso, his utter indifference to their candidate and themselves.

Said supporters are a clear minority, but they're attempting to create a rift within the Party that serves no purpose other than to weaken Strickland's chances against Portman. This would (and should) be an important pickup, one that'll be challenging enough for Strickland.

See if this sounds familiar:

http://wvxu.org/post/topsy-turvy-world-strickland-sittenfeld-race#stream/0

Sometimes, it almost seems as if the Sittenfeld campaign is spending more time running against the Ohio Democratic Party than against Strickland.

Dale Butland, a long-time veteran of Ohio politics and Sittenfeld’s campaign spokesman, said the campaign’s only beef with Strickland is that he is “playing rope-a-dope” – in other words, he’s acting like a boxer just taking body blows and hope that his opponent wears himself out and that he can throw a knock-out punch.
...

Sittenfeld wants them to focus on the following topics – jobs and the economy, Social Security and Medicare, education and student loan debt, civil rights, trade agreements and foreign policy, and why each candidate thinks he would be the strongest to run against Portma.(sic)

...

A Quinnipiac University Poll in June had Strickland up by six percentage points on Portman – down a bit from the nine point lead the former governor had in April. But Portman led Sittenfeld with 49 percent to the Cincinnati council member’s 24 percent.

24. I'm not worried, either.

Strickland will do just fine in the Primary, and will give Portman a run for his money. But this "new" strategy to gain notoriety by attempting to undermine the Party isn't doing anyone a damned bit of good. We had this fight at the end of the sixties, and Les Enfants Terribles lost.

This is, of course, what the Tea Party did to the Republican Party. It was wholly destructive and should not be countenanced by the Democrats.
