2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMitt Romney will not appoint Muslims in his Administration.
Here is the direct quote from Meet The Press in 2007:
"I asked Mr. Romney whether he would consider including qualified Americans of the Islamic faith in his Cabinet
as advisers on national security matters, given his position that 'jihadism' is the principal foreign policy threat
facing America today."
And Romney replied, "Based on the numbers of American Muslims [as a
percentage] in our population, I cannot see that a Cabinet position would
be justified. But of course, I would imagine that Muslims could serve at
lower levels of my administration.'" [Politico.com, 11/27/2007; "A Muslim
Belongs on the Cabinet," Christian Science Monitor, 11/27/2007,

(60 posts)I'm surprised no one has held his feet to the fire yet about this. Perhaps MSNBC and the Obama Administration has forgot this statement since it came from 2007 and John Mc/Sarah P were the nominees then? Going to e-mail the Ed Show.

(12,041 posts)Is he saying that cabinet picks are justified based on the percentage a minority group has in a population? That sounds an awful lot like the "racial quotas" the right-wing is always screaming about.

(28,627 posts)it doesn't matter what religion or race you are - it is whether you can do the job.
Besides this twit is never going to have an administration. The only administration Romney will have when he serves time for his dirty money.
