I wish kids could vote.

We gathered tonight as a family. My oldest son got home late last night from two weeks fighting a forest fire in Mendocino County, California. My two grandsons were obviously excited about having their dad home again. I strained to hear Joe Biden’s great speech over a happy four year old and a giddy six year old. I wasn’t looking forward to trying listen to President Obama’s speech with loud kid chatter in the background.

I think these kids sensed what was going on because they were absolutely silent for the entire speech and glued to the television set. Maybe it was the vibes they were getting from their parents and grandparents but I really think they understood that something very important to them was happening.
