Trump - what his supporters REALLY thinkThis discussion thread was locked as off-topic by one_voice (a host of the 2016 Postmortem forum). Part of the problem woth echo chambers is that you aren't exposed to new ideas. Another part is that you really don't know what people with contradictory opinions believe - except on a high level. I try and counter my own echo chambering instincts by visiting places full of people I disagree with. It's refreshing and enlightening. And infuriating. With all the talk of Trump's anti-Muslim immigration ideas it's probably good to see just exactly what his "base" thinks about his ideas. Maybe they too think he's gone to far. 1. DU is no echo chamber.
For comparison, check the freekers. Anyone who disagrees gets shut down immediately.

2. It is of course
It's not as bad as many places, but totally awful if you wanted to say post a lot of pro-Trump thing... that's hyperbolic, but it's just to prove the point... this place shouts down people it doesn't find acceptable as much as any place, and props up popular ideas over anything that is- in context - controversial... but it's definitely not the worst by any stretch.

4. There's support here from the center-right Clinton
all the way to the leftish Bernie Sanders, and from those excited about Pope Francis and Laudato si' to atheists.
I don't think most discussion sites are quite as broad. |

5. They can be
Go onto music sites and you'll see a lot more leeway given to people wI th unpopular opinions.
Go into GLP and if you push anything left you'll be banned. Kos users were trying to get Sanders supporters banned for a while It's a sliding scale. I'm here because it's a lot better than most... but it's not free from bias. And it's not free from ideological discrimination. It can't be really. |

8. I just looked at GLP and found most posters not
making much sense; mostly Obama derangement and racism. It's sad, because I'm guessing it's a cross-section of English-speaking internet users.
Maybe people really aren't worth saving, after all. |
