"Most of the people voting aren't REPUBLICANS!" - quote of a conservative talking about caucus/

primary voters. I didn't get the name of the person, and it's not an exact quote, but the talker was saying that those voting, I believe, for Romney are NOT the "party faithful".

Gee, I thought that was the idea ... that the Republican party is trying to appeal to "independents" ...

But even if it is true, does anyone remember "Operation Chaos" in 2008? Conservative voters have no right to the moral high ground here.

My experience has been that the most vehemently Republican people tend to also be the ones who can least afford Republican policy. And they all think that they're middle class, even if they don't know if they can keep the lights on this month.

Frankly, they remind me of victims of regular abuse; they see their mistreatment as a form of affection, and any effort to help or protect them from the abuse is interpreted as an attack on that source of affection.
