I could hardly believe what I heard when Ann Romney was interviewed by Dianne Sawyer just before the speech.. This is the woman that is supposed to reach out to women. She talked about being disappointed with finding out the last child was yet another boy and then said..
"I had all these boys," Ann Romney said in an exclusive interview. "But one thing I can say about boys is they've taught me much more than I think I would have learned by being a mother of girls. They taught me to be real, to have no baloney and to just say it straight and then get over it. And that was a great lesson."
Yes having a girl would never have taught me to be real and I would be talking baloney because that's what girls teach you! Now excuse me while I do my speech and reach out to women..

(63,708 posts)what an incredibly STUPID and INSENSITIVE thing to say!
I hope Sawyer said something in response, but I'm guessing she let it slide...
I'd like to slap Ann Romney silly...

(175,652 posts)My father was father to two girls and he thoroughly enjoyed it -- as I think President Obama enjoys Malia and Sasha. Even my family dog was a female.

(2,940 posts)She doesn't even know how shitty that sounds, does she? She and Mitt deserve each other; the country deserves better.
Also, I assume that's meant to be a very subtle dig at the President and the First Lady, right?

(18,670 posts)our female speakers served up the same platitudes while lifting men on a pedestal and telling us essentially that it was our calling to bow down to them. That's essentially how they see the female's role. It is considered an honor to subjugate oneself to a male, and "wife/mother" is a woman's sole identity. I'm not buying it.

They fit perfectly within the framework of the Mormon/Republican mindset that men are more valuable than women.
