The arena is not near major water. It's near a canal that's off Hillsboro Bay that's off Tampa Bay, both protected by two peninsulas of land. The elites will be protected.

A cat1 hurricane, under worst case scenerio - large slow storm moving NNE making landfall just to the north at high tide... Might get an 8' storm surge. And thats reall iffy. And 8' still isn't high enough to flood downtown streets, let alone the Forum. A tropical storm simply is not going to generate that kind if storm surge. I live here. I drive through downtown Tampa several days a week. I've done a lot of boating on Hillsborough Bay and River. And I know Florida weather.

to make it totally miserable for the people attending the Convention. After all we don't want them to skip off and spend all their time at the beach!
