And accepting of others.

Besides, if the Republican party nominated a turd, the republican voter would support said turd.

They're saying for the first time ever that a candidate's religion shouldn't matter (never mind those pesky few people still claiming Obama is a Muslim. They don't speak for them... really, they don't so stop trying to link them all up).

Some say religion doesn't matter, some say it does.

When you can nail somebody in the out-group for something you think is wrong, you do so. You make their behavior as bad as possible. It makes clear that you're not in their group and highlights the differences.

When you could nail somebody in your group for something that you think is wrong, you tend not to do so. You try to justify their behavior and find excuses for it. By showing tolerance for those in your group, you deserve tolerance; moreover, it makes it less likely that you'll be kicked out. The ultimate form of in-group justification is a kind of tu quoque: Yeah, we do it, but they did it first so it's okay when we do it.

We're primates. They do it and we notice it. It's horrible. We do it and usually we don't notice it--and if we do, we find ways to minimize the consequences.

but thy would vote for aperson of color as long as they know their place and don't get all uppity.

In other words as long as a person of color acts like an Uncle Tom they will be accepted.

gay marriage. Those two wedge issues are alive and kicking, so don't count them out.

I am working on trying to get him to cast a protest vote for the Constitution Party. Still ultra-conservative, but not likely to take away his MediCare since they can't win.

and can't tell their ass from their elbow? This is not an exaggeration.

The distinction from their ass and their elbow is not specified in the bible as relayed to them by their narrow minded right wing preachers.
