over Paul Ryan now since 2009. They love him. All he has to do is spell his name right, and he'll be declared the winner. And with moderators like Candy Crowley, who tend to be sympathetic to the Republican philosophy, I just don't trust it.

I'm rooting for Biden, but I don't trust how the Corporate Media spins.

that there is nothing bold about giving tax cuts to the wealthy and cutting Medicare, Social Secuirty, Medicaid and education. I hope he keeps up that line in the debate, which I'm sure he will.

the media puts people into roles (which almost ALWAYS cast by republicans).

As they cast Gore as arrogant and Bush as a RESOLUTE MAN OF CONVICTION they have cast the sharp and knowledgeable Biden as some kind of gaffe machine and the lightweight Ryan as a BOLD MAN OF IDEAS!

It won't matter much how it plays out in reality, the book is already written on that debate.

They underestimate him at their peril. IIRC, he's a former prosecutor. He also has an enormous amount of knowledge and experience in foreign policy - which Ryan completely lacks.

Ryan should be scared to death to debate Joe Biden.

Absolutely! And Biden was handcuffed by the media against Palin because of the "she's a woman" issue. He does not have that obstacle with Ryan. I fully expect VP Biden to kick his ass.

...what difference does it make? Has a VP debate ever decided a presidential election?

But seriously, how arrogant do you have to be to think Biden is going to be easy to beat? He has been a successful politician for a long time - he's done this before. The fact that conservatives are going nuts about the veep debate pretty much means they aren't excited about the presidential debates - because they know there's no chance the Romneybot 2012 is going to beat the President.

the Pres candidate on the opposite ticket (Biden vs. Romney and Ryan vs. Obama). After all, the whole reason for having a VP (apart from needing somebody to break a rare tie in the Senate) is so there's someone who can stake over if the president is incapacitated. So wouldn't it make some sense to have each of the VP candidates debate the opposite presidential candidate? And even if it doesn't make sense it would be fun to watch.

Let George Will question the Democratic candidate, and Rachel Maddow can quiz the Republican.

And give the moderators the leeway to pound away on topic until they get a straight answer.

They forget that before the media labled Biden as "gaffe-prone," they labeled him as "policy wonk" for his in-depth, long-winded oration on policy details. I remember the laughter when he answered a question, after being cautioned about his time limit, with "Yes."

And brought both sides of the house down.

He's had many, many years to hone his policy wonkiness with biting one-liners.

I, too, cannot wait for the Biden/Ryan debate. Unlike with Ms. Governor Palin, it will be no holds barred.

It's not the debate - it's the countless hours of media spin that will convince most Americans who won and lost.

Here's the thing...

The first Presidential Debate of the modern era - Kennedy/Nixon was watched by 60% of adult Americans. In comparison, The 2008 Presidential Debates were watched by roughly 17% of the voting public.

Edit to add statistical data.

when I think of 2008, when Biden said something to the effect of, "This is a man (McCain) who has said he wouldn't sit down with the president of Spain!"

It was the way he said Sppppaaaaaaaiiiiiiiinnnnnnn", injecting just the right amount of incredulousness into it, as if to say, you McCain voters, are you out of your effing minds?

the right has been obsessive about how to get him out. They don't deal with the truth and facts, they just make shit up. A perfect example is Ryan. They think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Facts dictate that he has the lowest approval rating ever, and will abolish medicare, social security and many other social programs for this country. Rmoney has offended the hispanics, blacks, and women in this country. The idiots that support these two clowns, completely ignore the facts and think the GOP's stance is the only way to go. Are they that stupid, or is it the fact that hate Obama. I think we all know the answer to this. GO OBAMA!!!!
