Hillary is going to win.....

She will win most of the Democratic primaries, most of the delegates, nearly all the super delegates and she will win the General Election as well.

I know many think Bernie is different and everyone will flock to his banner....but fact is that most won't. ....and many of us have been around to see it all play out before. Some virtual unknown captures some people's attention for awhile, rises so far in the polls and then doesn't go anywhere. This is happening just like it has before and more than likely will during the next election.

Most Democrats don't think Bernie has what it takes to win the GE. Most Democrats support Hillary (DU excepted of course). She is winning every national poll among Democrats and will continue to do so. In fact, she will get a rather large bump in the polls when they finally take out the un-candidate Biden from the equation.

America is not going to elect a self-described Socialist, whether he calls himself a Socialist or a Democratic Socialist. Neither are Americans prepared to elect someone who is promoting a Revolution with a price tag of 17 to 18 Trillion.

You can call the front runner Democrat all the names and labels you can think of....Corporate Democrat, elitist Democrat, establishment Democrat, etc. You can complain the front runner never mentions the names of other Democratic candidates and you can complain the press ignores your candidate......it makes no difference....at the end of the day....we know who will be representing the Democratic Party in November of 2016. Her name is Hillary. She will win. That's called reality.

If anyone posts something to the effect that Sanders will win because he's entitled to win, as if he's some kind of demi-god who should not have to bother swatting at a pesky opponent, I will be all over that. If you want to steer me in the right direction, I will stick a pin in that balloon.

55. Neither did I

But the OP is one of those opinions from Clinton supporters that cite her strengths and assets in a way that make it seem her destiny is not just inevitable, but ordained. Personally, I don't mind so much, since this is normal behavior for supporters of political candidates. The Sanders and O'Malley supporters do essentially the same thing, only without the "It's her destiny!" stuff. We have primary elections so the voters can see and judge the alternatives. Clinton stands an extremely - and I mean extremely -- good chance of winning the nomination and the presidency, but it's not ordained. The voters went for progressives 130 years ago, and they could do it again.

What you are objecting to is your own fantasy version of the OP. The only things you object to are things that you made up.

79. It's OK. Really.

I realize supporters of political candidates can go over the top quite easily. The OP expresses the opinion that nothing can stop Hillary Clinton, and it expresses that thought quite breathlessly, and makes it all seem like a matter of destiny, describing Clinton's path to the presidency as "reality." And that's OK. Those of us who support Sanders just like to remind the Clinton supporters that we have an alternate reality, and it's at least theoretically possible. I'm not trying to harsh on your buzz or anything, but you might not realize how these posts look to people who are not ardent Clinton supporters. They're downright worshipful. And that's OK, as I already said, but I will take a little shot at them when I get an opening. Please note I'm not calling anybody stupid or delusional, or anything like that. I realize there's a good chance I will end up voting for Clinton in the general election, and I'm just fine with that.

85. You just got your argument handed to you--so it is "OK" I'm sure.

It's "OK" apparently for one crew to insist their candidate will inevitably win on the strength of his "rightness" or "vision" or the fact that unnamed "old people" are anecdotally talking about him in a diner somewhere about how he doesn't take any of that money that will be needed to combat the GOP, but if another candidate's crew does the very same thing, you pull out the "entitled" and "over the top" and "destiny" and "breathlessly" cards, with a side order of snark.

Come on.

It just is what it is--partisan cheerleading. And there's plenty of dewy-eyed 'breathlessness' and 'destiny' and 'reality' visioning to go around.

On both sides.

I mean, this shit works just fine from the other side of the fence:

I'm not trying to harsh on your buzz or anything, but you might not realize how these posts look to people who are not ardent Sanders supporters. They're downright worshipful. 89. I know all that

As I said, people get worshipful about their candidates. Me too. I love the guy because he's a progressive and a democratic socialist, kind of my dream candidate. I even see some posts claiming Bernie Sanders will win because he is morally pure, good defeats evil, etc. If he does win, it will be because people catch on, pick up on the subtext, etc. But there's one element to the Clinton campaign missing from the Sanders campaign, and this may be the only real stylistic distinction, but the Clinton people often include this component of what they like to call reality or inevitability, but I like to call destiny, and some detractors like to call entitlement. And I do sometimes remind my fellow Sandernistas of harsh reality when they post things saying the enormous Sanders tsunami will roll in and drown the Clinton campaign, etc. I even remind them to try to be a little fair to the Clinton campaign, and they tell me to take a hike.

...and they certainly know those are just a couple more phrases concocted solely by the pro-Bernie/anti/Hillary crowd with abysmally weak attempts to infer they are actual quotes from Hillary's supporters, hence the dishonest, misleading use of quotation marks. They will not own up to it, and will continue to repeat in the hope that eventually it will stick, and be believed by someone. I predict a very long wait.

There were no insults of Bernie Sanders OR of his policies. There was (in my opinion) an honest assessment of how ordinary voters (the type that don't hang out here) are likely to view him. If you disagree, there's plenty of bandwidth to offer an opposing viewpoint.

18. A year is an eternity in politics.

I learned long ago never to try to predict what's going to happen in elections, especially this far in advance. Joe Biden could decide to run, which would change the balance. Polls are merely snapshots in time and only illustrate trends over time (and Bernie is now trending up while Hillary is trending down - but that could change too). Previous elections are not necessarily indicative of what will happen in this one - this election is off the charts for weirdness where the GOP is concerned, and what's happening with those nutballs will also affect what happens with the Dems. It's all a crapshoot. The only thing I feel pretty sure about is that Hillary does not have the nomination in the bag.

“If Hillary Clinton gets a race against John Edwards and Barack Obama, she’s going to be the nominee. Gore is the only threat to her … Barack Obama is not going to beat Hillary Clinton in a single democratic primary. I’ll predict that right now.”

22. You're posting right wing lies about Sanders from WSJ that have been debunked.

The economist who the WSJ based their figures on even refuted their claims:

An Open Letter to the Wall Street Journal on Its Bernie Sanders Hit Piece

Gerald Friedman, Professor of Economics, University of Massachusetts at Amherst - Posted: 09/15/2015 8:03 pm EDT

Gerald Friedman's research was cited in a Wall Street Journal story about Bernie Sanders's proposals for government spending. Friedman responds to that story below.

t is said of economists that they know the cost of everything but the value of nothing. In the case of the article "Price Tag of Bernie Sanders's Proposals: $18 Trillion," this accusation is a better fit for the Wall Street Journal that published it.

The Journal correctly puts the additional federal spending for health care under HR 676 (a single payer health plan) at $15 trillion over ten years. It neglects to add, however, that by spending these vast sums, we would, as a country, save nearly $5 trillion over ten years in reduced administrative waste, lower pharmaceutical and device prices, and by lowering the rate of medical inflation....

I understand people can see things differently, but hanging back doesn't include talking, then trying to talk, then talking, then trying to talk, all while your opponent runs over you with their talking points. Hanging back. Not under any concept of the phrase. Being able to see his frustration is hanging back? That is not an opinion. It was painted all over his face. Might want to watch Obama in this type of discussion if you want to see holding back and knowing when to throw punches. He is cool under pressure and delivers jabs to the opposition.

Demanding Super delegates votes before any citizens vote, out raising and outspending all other candidates on air time, revolving policy statements, fake emotions, etc. etc. Why would anyone expect a different outcome than 2008?

It wasn't just because she lost the black vote ( how condescending is that?). It was because of the entitlement personality that is portrayed in this original post.

Unless Hillary stands up to the 1%, she has to lie to the 99%.

Nobody likes being lied to any more.

Same sense of entitlement and arrogance. Same "running as an incumbent" strategy. Same tone-deafness to what's going on out in the country.

Jebus, she's been running for POTUS since Bubba's first term, and that means she's the only person in US history who has run for president longer than Richard Nixon did. Can you say obsession?

Bernie isn't getting as much traction as the media hoped. They had a bonanza with the 2008 Dem primaries and everybody got good ratings and made beaucoup bucks with that horse race.
The only way the numbers look like they are changing at all is if you add Joe Biden into the mix. Otherwise, a thirty point plus lead isn't going to get anyone tuning in until the general.

I actually think it would be a better race if Hillary had some real competition in the real world. Maybe that will happen when she runs for re-election.

Republican voters in VT, it seems he's attracting the middle finger crowd. Very odd, though, considering his rather liberal attitudes....

I've thought that he is the other side of the Trump coin, on the left...

or the help of any other Bernie Sanders supporter. Carry on ... and we will sit back and watch.

That's right. Little Miss Inevitable lost to Barack Obama.

116. So is your interpreting what most regard as an opinion as a "fact" because of events like this?....

... that you know have happened in an effort to establish some basis that her coronation in the future is somehow "fact" now?

126. bernie is not well known. just today

my friend said "people don't know who he is". of course, being the political junkie i am, i've known about him for many years.

will he win? i hope so, but if hillary is the nominee she will get my vote -- not in the primary -- bernie will get it, but in the general election.

127. There is no way she wins

Her negativity is only growing, she refuses to give straight answers, she is going against the anti-establishment movement..and she is hardcore establishment and super wealthy, she is evasive on issues, she is still under investigation and will into next year, her trustworthiness is negative in virtually all states and nationally. And the #1 reason she won't win anything... America already knows her just the same as Jeb and Donald. They aren't new or fresh. The country has made up their minds on her long ago, and there will never be some huge shift like you claim. This is simply common sense. People do not love Hillary, the vast majority of her supporters simply tolerate her. And the final reason she doesn't win.. what the heck is her campaign's main theme/message? Heck if I or anyone knows.

147. As compared to Fiorina and her lies during the last GOP debate about Planned Parenthood,

Mrs. Clinton is best positioned to win. She did no wrong using her private email server, nothing was hacked and there are no secrets in her emails. She turned everything over, it took time but she did the right thing and even apologised. I will take her 100 times over any GOP candidate, they lie all the time. Look at the Jeb Bush retard, his brother kept America safe, his asshole brother ignored the crisis when Katrina occurred.

161. There you go....

Just the response I was expecting. You sound like a GOP candidate supporter.. not acknowledging the weaknesses I very clearly stated which are all proven as being multiple problems that has all but ended her run. You did not admit the problems she has.. the biggest is her being evasive on everything and anything which leads to trustworthiness. She still doesn't give a straight answer on anything, and she still has no detailed plan about what she would do as president as she wants paid focus groups to tell her. But thanks for playing.

Not that she would be bad, just she isn't the best we have available.
In my occasionaly humble opinion.

138. Not especially helpful

... many of us have been around to see it all play out before. Some virtual unknown captures some people's attention for awhile, rises so far in the polls and then doesn't go anywhere. This is happening just like it has before and more than likely will during the next election.

Yep, just like that upstart back in 2008. His popularity spiked and then he dropped... right into the White House.

Most Democrats support Hillary (DU excepted of course).

True, if "most" means 37%. She hasn't be above 50% since the end of July, and has dropped 10% each of the last two months. (poll)

That decline will slow, certainly, as will Bernie's rate of growth, but that national poll doesn't mean a lot if one candidate steamrolls the other in the early primary states.

She is winning every national poll among Democrats

She was leading the polls in Iowa and New Hampshire, as well.

I've barely visited DU in eons, and have posted even less, but this OP really rubbed me the wrong way. I suppose it's partly because of the scummy attack put out by David Brock, and how this OP carries the same air of superiority and arrogance that seems to surround the candidate in question, but I think it's mostly because it was just as detached from reality as I see from my far right friends all too often.

The primary season may well be a long one, and no candidate is inevitable.

143. Another "neener, neener, neener" thread.

How, exactly, do you think it helps your candidate to post sneering, arrogant OPs like this?

Yes, HRC is ahead at the moment(with a declining lead, by many measures), but, as Brecht's "Song Of The Moldau" puts it

"The world's always changing, however enormous,
The plans of the mighty, when dawn comes, are through".

History does not reward the smug.

144. Hillary is going to win.

Hillary actually won more votes than Obama in 2008. She was cheated of the nomination by a combination of the the disenfranchisment of Florida and Michigan and caucus fraud.
