If you are busy trying to tear down a Democratic candidate on DU, this is for you. This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Agschmid (a host of the 2016 Postmortem forum). God help us if a Republican wins the Presidency and they maintain their control of both the House and Senate. Also keep in mind the next President will probably be able to name at least two, maybe as many as four Justices of the Supreme Court, setting the direction of the court for the next ten to twenty years. Why in the world would we want to make that the least bit more likely by attempting to discredit any of the Democratic candidates, one of which might be our nominee? It okay to try to win the battle, just don't lose the war in the process.

1. It's callled a primary
We can advocate for who we want and point out the policy flaws of the other ones.

16. There smart posts and dumb posts.
If your candidate deserves the nomination, there must be an number of great things you can say about him or her. You an point out differences between candidates' positions. But it is just flat dumb to openly criticize, especially the venom I have seen on this board, the person who may be representing your party in the general election, especially with all that is at stake.
The candidates themselves apparently see the logic is this and are content to watch the Republicans tear each other to shreds. Why can't we see the same logic. |

14. Hillary is using high profile surrogates to spread ugly, dishonest memes
about Bernie. She's sent staffers to Vermont to do opposition research on him. This is nothing new for Clinton. You want to pretend this isn't happening, fine. I won't be joining you in that pretense.

2. If somebody on an internet forum can discredit them they didn't have much credibility to begin with
Whoever the nominee is, they'll have to endure a lot worse than what is said about them here.

8. Don't you love it when the Republicans fight among themselves?
Don't you think that Republicans would love to point out that even Democrats have been saying the same disruptive things about their own nominee?

5. touchingly naive. And baloney.
Attempts at stifling criticism and discussion suck. Equating criticism with republicans? Yeah, that sucks too. Thinking that criticism on DU has an impact? False.
And the grade school level lecture? Tiresome and redundant. |

This constant tearing down of Bernie is just ridiculous.

18. And who are you trying to convince; you are just driving others away from your candidate
There are probably very few on this board who have not already chosen a candidate to support for the nomination. How you like it when people on this board criticize your candidate? After that criticism if their candidate wins the nomination, will you then feel more or less inclined to really get behind their candidate in the general election. If your answer is less inclined, then why are you doing your candidate that disservice.
