Hillary stepping down from State.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/26/hillary-clinton-stepping-down_n_1234221.html?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl1%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D130443

Clinton told State Department employees on Thursday that she is ready for a rest and is paying no attention to the Republican presidential candidate debates. She said she wants to find out just how tired she is after working flat out as first lady, senator, aspiring presidential candidate and finally the top U.S. diplomat.

"I have made it clear that I will certainly stay on until the president nominates someone and that transition can occur" if Obama wins re-election, she told a town hall meeting. "But I think after 20 years, and it will be 20 years, of being on the high wire of American politics and all of the challenges that come with that, it would be probably a good idea to just find out how tired I am."
But, she appeared to leave the door open for a possible eventual return, adding to laughter from the crowd that "everyone always says that when they leave these jobs."

As secretary of state, Clinton is barred from partisan politics and she acknowledged that it is unusual not to be participating in this election season. But, she said she is enjoying being away from the fray and hasn't watched any of the GOP debates.

I'm thinking Ombudsman, or what ever a female Ombudsman would be called. That, or ambassador-at-large.

5. Three possiblities
Thu Jan 26, 2012, 04:27 PM
Jan 2012

1. She is getting ready for 2016 and wants to get her things in order for that run. She cant do that and be Secretary of State.

2. She wants to be Obama's running mate to energize the country (there was some talk by pundits about this a month or so ago).

3. She really truly just wants a break for a while.

we now have elizabeth warren.

I'm liking Martin O'Malley and Brian Schweitzer too.

In fact, I fantasize a bit about a warren/schweitzer ticket. Or a warren/sherrod brown ticket...

No VP, no President, etcetera. Anything else is basically wishful thinking. I would imagine she's going to direct whatever energy she wants to spend into something like the Clinton Global Initiative.

She's indicated that she was tired of being SOS quite a while ago. It's a nutcracker job where you're constantly on the go.

I think she's be a fine nominee as Associate Justice...hopefully replacing a Scalia or Kennedy...

Thank you Mrs. Clinton for your service and dedication!

As for her assertion that she doesn't want to run again for office, who knows how she will feel in the future? I don't even know what I'm having for dinner tomorrow, let alone what I will want to be doing in 4 years. People set goals, but life has many twists and turns. She also didn't want to be SOS and she ended up enjoying the job.

that for a while now the fact that Hillary is 'tired' keeps on coming up over and over. I can't help but compare it to a man - do men retire because they tire - I'm sure they do! but somehow this sounds stranger to me. I know at least one true hearted PUMA that posts here that keeps saying that too, she's tired!

I think it just sounds weird because what if she was President now instead of Obama and then got tired in the middle of it?
