I for one am glad that camp weathervane is attacking Bernie supporters

When I say camp weathervane I'm not just talking about DU, either.

It really means they got nothing to attack Bernie with. So if they want to call me a racist misogynistic volvo owner and all around general poopyhead. Fine with me!

They. Got. Nothing!

It means their candidate's policies don't hold a candle to Bernie's. It's obvious their candidate has a history of evolution driven by focus groups and the political winds.

Go ahead. Bring it. I'm happy to be Bernie's surrogate target for the poo flingers.

In the end, when Bernie is nominated, I can shower and watching the steam leaking from ears will be some sweet schadenfreude.

I'm off to my weekly meeting of Bernie supporters to figure out ways to get the word out.

I too am happy to be Bernie's surrogate. Because these attacks are nothing more than the establishment's way of distracting us from noticing the REAL villains, who are picking our pockets and destroying the earth for just one more penny of profit.

This whole thing is Karl Rove to the max - make the strength seem a weakness, and sling mud because some might stick.

I don't drive a Volvo, though. Does that disqualify me?

Sun Aug 23, 2015, 05:03 PM
Aug 2015

I lived in Minneapolis for 7 years, and became addicted to bicycles. Min/St Paul is one of the most Bike Friendly cities in the US.
They have pulled up most of the RR tracks, and put in State of the Art Commuter Bicycle Paths.
You can go miles and miles without sharing the road with a car or runner.
Minneapolis even has Emergency Call Boxes on the Commuter Paths.

WE moved to the country in 2006, and I bought a Mountain Bike, but it wasn't the same.
#1...There are too many hungry BIG Country dogs who believe that eating bicyclers is great sport.

#2..On my Off Road bike, I cold NEVER relax. You have to watch for every little pot hole or rock or rut.
I loved getting on the asphalt that I knew ran for 10 miles...and just evaporate into the med zone.
I would "wake up" at the end.
Mountain Biking is NOTHING like that.
I miss the deep meditation I could access while riding a hybrid on dedicated Bike Paths.

I loved it so much, I rode through the Minnesota Winters with a set of studded ice tires.

63. I loved the studs,
Sun Aug 23, 2015, 06:10 PM
Aug 2015

the only drawback was that they were much harder to pedal on dry streets.

Many commuters in the Twin Cities did NOT use studs, and commuted all year.
That is because Minneapolis cleared and de-iced the bicycle commuter routes.

I liked to explore, so the studs were essential.
Many cars would leave their motors running for hours while parked at the curb. This would melt the ice under the car which would freeze into glazed ice (Black Ice) in the street....very dangerous without studs.

Only one thing to REMEMBER while rising studs.....
You do NOT have any studs on your shoes,
and if you absent mindedly or habitually and put put your food down when you stop,
you WILL Kiss the Ice.
(Everybody always found that funny.)
I didn't see what was so funny.
Ice HURTS.

themselves, hoping they would not look at his incredible record on Civil Rights. But I was never worried that it would succeed because AAs are very capable of doing that in spite of all the talking points. And they have.

See Li'l B eg, and what he said about switching from Hillary to Bernie. Eg, we are told here that what he did back during the Civil Rights Movement is 'irrelevant'. Really, well not so according to what I'm reading. Li'l B eg, was hugely impressed that Bernie marched with MLK and then, like many of us, wondered what Hillary was doing at that time. He wasn't impressed when he found out. He WAS impressed that Bernie isn't just talking, that he 'was an ally for all those years'.

I ignore the rhetoric for the most part, those insisting on trying to get some mileage out of an attempt to mischaracterize Bernie, are fewer and fewer and are best ignored.

I don't think we need to defend Bernie, his record is his defense. Not so with any other candidate in this race which is why the effort was so intense.

The truth never changes, and no one CAN change it.

Let them try to smear a man with falsehoods, so easily proven to be wrong, and the only ones who will be hurt by that, are themselves. Already people are asking 'wth, this guy has been our ally for so long, why are they going after HIM'. Let THEM explain that, we meantime just have to keep on spreading the word about Bernie.

Some people insist that America's Poor, the Working Poor, and the Soon to be Poor….
..... are really doing well,
and have a bright future if they just keep voting for MORE "Free Trade", "Free Markets", and Market Based "Private" Big Business solutions.
They have "facts" to prove it from Whitehouse.gov

The Pundits, Party Spokesmen, Talking Heads, Chamber of Commerce, and Centrist Big Business Democrats tell me that there is a NEW God in town.
They tell me that I can't SEE this new GOD because, like the old GOD, this one is Invisible too.

This new GOD is so ALL POWERFUL that when the "Free Market" makes a mistake, a Giant Invisible Hand reaches down from the heavens,
and CORRECTS the Market ALL BY ITSELF!!!
There is No NEED for Regulations or Government Intervention to Keep things Fair.
There is NO NEED to protect Citizens, Consumers, Small Businesses, or The Environment.
There is NO NEED for Humans to get involved AT ALL,
because the Invisible Hand will DO all that for us!

In fact, ANY interference from Governments, Consumer Groups, Organized LABOR, Workers Rights, Humanitarian Groups, and ESPECIALLY those whiny assed Environmentalists only makes things WORSE.
The Invisible Hand Knows ALL, and works BEST all by himself,
so we have to be careful NOT to interfere,
or it will Piss Him Off.

That is WHY our Democratic Party Leadership is working on another BIG "Free Trade" Deal, and have Locked Out all representatives from Labor Rights, Human Rights, Consumer Rights, Citizens, and Environmental Protection Groups so they don't Piss Off the Invisible Hand.
but Shhhhhh! They want to keep it a SECRET so everybody will be surprised,
and the Invisible Hand will be happy!!!
So don't tell anyone.

Here is a picture of the altar in this New Church where our Political Leaders, Democrat & Republican, all go to worship.

....................The Graven Image on the altar
.............of the Church of the "Free Trade"

I've been having a lot a trouble with this All Powerful Invisible Hand thing.
I think that maybe somebody just made all that shit up.
We've been sacrificing American Job, Wages, and Benefits to this new GOD for 30 years now,
Democratic Party & Republican Party,
and things are still getting WORSE for those of us who have to Work-for-a-Living.

Those owned by the corporations and those who are not. Ha-joon Chang's "23 Things They Don't Tell You About Capitalism." And it's primarily aimed by me at people who seem to want superheroes to take over the political scene and pretend it's person X when person X does not appear to have any kind of Actual Plan beyond looking nice in front of cameras, saying comforting things and having a nice logo.

I don't really see how the Sanders phenomenon fits that criticism as he doesn't have nice hair or a spin machine and does seem to have some kind of Actual Plan and it is in fact those very things for which he is so highly regarded.

Whenever I see anyone say anything nice about Hillary, it's always got something to do with what an amazing personality she has and her personal qualities are so fricken regal and presidential and stuff and other garbage like that, like she's going to be in charge of a tremendously classy game show or something.

They really do seem to think that everybody in the entire United States has the IQ of a lobotomised cow.

I've never thought idolising anyone was "creepy". I've seen plenty of attributions of "creepy" pointed at LOTs of other things on this site, mind you. I've always thought of idolising politicians as just plain vacuous and depressing.

The end result:
The SuprememCourt is now MORE conservative that before Obama made his appointments.

I expect the same from Hillary.

He'll just use the same approach that he used when he was asked about Clinton's hair. Can we talk about issues that the American people are concerned about? Can we stop demonizing public goods, which are in fact socialist in the sense that i mean the word?

Speaking of those declining living standards, Democrats are to blame almost as much as Republicans. The latter are constantly attacking them, and the former are too gutless to defend. Part of that gutlessness is cowering in the face of being called "socialist" just because you think public goods should be for everyone.

2004 Kia that just had the engine light go on as I drove from Seattle to Portland to help a friend who had a bone graft from her pelvis to place in her ankle. They misdiagnosed a broken bone so it the bone died. They kicked her out of the hospital 12 hours after surgery. They don't care that she is single. They don't send any nurses to check on her. I have been spending every 3 hours around the clock giving her morphine and helping her to the bathroom. She was in so much pain, we called the call nurse line. They upped the morphine but wouldn't let her come back into the hospital.

That is my elite Latina life...I am helping a white woman so maybe I fit this stereo type somehow.

That is possibly something she should see an attorney about. But first, if she had insurance, she should file a complaint with her insurance company against the doctor who misdiagnosed her and whomever is responsible for not following up on her care.

I'm sorry you had to do this, but good on you for being there for her.

And good luck with your car. My engine light has been going on for over 15 years now and it's getting worse...but my car is 28 years old now and it's still running. I'm just holding my breath, because there is no way I can afford another car, even used, and where I live I absolutely have to have a car to live. I'm ten miles from town with no other form of transportation.

I've been told by many people that engine lights going on are not usually a problem, unless you live in a place where you have to pass an emissions test.

Don't you all think it is a bit early to start killing and eating our own. I mean, maybe we should give the Republicans a bit more time to do it and then, just when we might win, we can cannibalize the party our candidate (who ever they are) and let it go to rot. Seriously, anyone out there got a bit more time for hate and misogyny... if so, sign up here with the Duers. We can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory... just so long as we don't ever elect a split tail (my reading of the posts in this DU thus far).

I doubt if Hillary would go for a Sanders/Clinton ticket; but it would possibly "unite" the Party

I'm a Bernie supporter,

Bernie is a self-described "Democratic Socialist"...which is not the same thing.as "Socialist"

If I'm not mistaken, Bernie has stated that he might become a Democrat in order to win the Democratic nomination; and I wish he would do that as soon as possible.

Being a self-described "Democratic Socialist" might be fine if he merely wants to remain a senator from Vermont.
But if he really wants to defeat Hillary Clinton, and become the Democratic presidential nominee in 2016, he must, at some point, actually join the Democratic Party, IMO.
