Sanders says Trump's "slurring of the Latino community is not something that should be going on in the year 2015"SOPHIA TESFAYE
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has had it with Donald Trump and comparisons of his campaign to that of the billionaire mogul and GOP frontrunner.
The Vermont senator told the New York Times Magazine that he not only disagreed with Trumps views on immigration but that he found Trumps entire campaign to be an embarrassment. Asked by Ana Marie Cox in a short interview what he thought of Trumps surge in the polls, Sanders responded, not much. Sanders went on to slam Trump as an embarrassment for our country, citing his slurring of the Latino community:
I think Donald Trumps views on immigration and his slurring of the Latino community is not something that should be going on in the year 2015, and its to me an embarrassment for our country.
Sanders and Trump briefly crossed paths this weekend at the Iowa State Fair, where presidential candidates from both sides of the aisle visited the famed Soapbox and chowed down on a variety of fried delectables. I apologize, we left the helicopter at home. Its in the garage, Sanders joked, mocking Trumps splashy appearance at the fair via helicopter (the billionaire offered free rides to children and told them he was Batman.)

(14,302 posts)Trump is notoriously thin-skinned and very poor at debating. It's all bluster with him. Personal attacks.
Bernie will be fine, and the contrast couldn't be "richer."

(122 posts)and since the traditional media is obsessed with him, it will be interesting to see if they choose between the competing goals of ignoring Bernie or promoting the Trump's theatrics.

(9,527 posts)Trump is far too much of an embarrassment to be limited to just one country.

(12,377 posts)and a playwright made up a character for the stage, using Trump's personality and language, along with the mop of vaudevillian hair and baggy clown pants, the audience would be falling in the aisles screaming in laughter, especially if the role had him running for president.
Bernie is right... He is an embarrassment. Other countries are watching, and we should start acting like we have a bit of pride and dignity in this process.
Of course it still is early yet and the funny man in the floppy shoes is giving free helicopter rides, so maybe we will sober up when fair time is over and the blizzards of January set in.

(9,426 posts)Remember the headlines n the London newspaper when W was placed into the WH? "How could 58 million people be SO DUMB?" Trump might be the next unbelievable, unqualified gop President. Years ago people overseas saw American tourists as bragging, overbearing dumbasses. Well, here comes The Donald, personally being that tourist loud and clear.

(16,916 posts)What we have in Trump is a picture perfect example of a 1%er trying to buy his way into political power. Where Bernie is all about the issues, Trump couldn't care less about "issues" - unless the issue is Trump!
I swear ta god, if Donald Trump didn't exist, Bernie Sanders would have to create him.

(4,558 posts)Trump is an embarrassment. I will say this though, Trump's done us more favors than he has his own party. I am thoroughly enjoying watching them squirm.. i just need a larger bucket of popcorn.
Who's comparing Bernie's campaign to Trump? I don't see it at all. If anything, I see Senator Sanders campaign to being more similar to Ron Paul circa 2008. There's so much more to compare there.

(4,234 posts)Sanders would trounce him by any metric.
But it would have no effect on the outcome of the race one way or the other. The contest, if it's between Trump and Sanders I believe will be decided this time as in 2004 by the voting machines.

(21,130 posts)I was driving across town and heard trump's press conference today, by the time I got home I was so angry and disgusted. That a$$hole thinks he is presidential caliber. He is a joke and embarrassment. It really doesn't say much about the republican voters and then he had the audacity to say he has Democrats also supporting him. I don't think so. No rational thinking person would even think about voting for this bloviating megalomaniac jerk. And I wanted to vomit over the call girl saying he was a great lover. I can't even stand to look at this oranges haired freak.
