A plea to my fellow democats from a poster burned out on Democratic Underground

Cordell stopping by here again. I have a rant to make if I made and I hope I am posting this in the right place, if not please forgive me It has been quite some time since I been an active poster here at Democratic Underground. Now that my career as a novel writer is underway, I do not have as much time that I would love to have in order to post here. With that being said, I am equally troubled by what I am seeing here. I am here to plead with my fellow democrats to keep in mind what is at stake should the republicans win in 2016.

All the good things that we have accomplished and achieved under President Obama's current term will be in jeopardy. I am so deathly afraid that one day I will wake up and will no longer be a free man able to say what I want when I want without getting shot at by people who hate me for my color.

I am afraid that I will wake up one day and find out that I'm a second class citizen again because I happen to be a gay man of color. I am afraid that I will wake up one day to find that what few progressive choices I have to watch as well as listen to on the television and radio will be gone. I am really afraid that the Supreme Court which is the issue I plan on voting on will suddenly be in danger should a republican get control of the White House.

Even, if by the grace of god that we somehow are able to win the White House in 2016, I am afraid for the mid-terms of 2018 because our base has a tendency not to show up in the mid-terms and the republicans bank on that. Who ever the next nominee is going to be, I am here to urge everyone at Democratic Underground to please when the time comes to put aside our differences and lets work to make sure we have a democratic President as well as a Democratic Senate as well as a democratic house. We have way too much to lose if we do not vote. We can have a healthy debate but what I do not see are people being supportive of each other and that terrifies me. If we stand united, I have no doubt we can get back on track, thank you and I'm sorry I interrupted your day.

I may not be black or gay, but I have daughters and a family that I would like to raise in particular manner that realizes how hard we all have to work for person who have been suppresed for so very long. That everyone is of worth and should have equal value and love and treatment from every other person. I do realize my struggle is not nearly to the level that you have gone through. But I would like to think my famly and I are in your corner, and by doing so, we are all better for it!!

From my corner, I will vote for the Democratic nominee next November regardless of who it is - all of our candidates are a HUNDRED times better than any of the alternatives.

but every time the candidates fail to appeal to the people it's "what did you selfish lefties do THIS time?!"

this is just another in the long series of the party Establishment (and its remoras) pointing fingers at everyone but their own policies for their electoral failures

makes me a selfish leftie then so be it. When I take a good LONG and HARD look at conservatives. I see people who want to see me dead. I see people who want to dictate to me how I should live my life. I see people who want to transport us all back to the period of the 1950s where if I even look at a white man or a white woman funny, one I would get my butt beat, two, I would even get shot, three, I would get lynched for even staring at a white woman or man for that matter.

I see a party that sees me as a demon. I see a party that thinks I'm unclean and unsafe as a human. I also see a party that makes snaps judgement about the democratic party. I see a party that goes out of their way to help people who are the upper one percent of our country. I see a party that will attack someone's character before sitting down and taking a good hard look at someone's life.

I see a party who will hire professional people to jump on social media. I see a party who sends people out to go after someone's character. I see a party who is trying their best to rewrite our history so people won't take a good, long look at their lack of accomplishment. I see people who come on Democratic Underground every day and do their hardest to try and divide people.

I see other black posters like myself who if they even say one thing wrong about someone who are alerted on for no reason in an attempt to silence them. I see people who are so afraid of change who are doing everything they can to hold on to what little power they have.

THAT IS WHAT I AM SCARED OF and that is why I'm voting democratic. With all the problems we have in this world, to have a group of people come on liberal sites and try to silence us and tell us that we need to accept the status quo when people have died for my right to walk this earth as a free man of color.

Next you will tell me I'm an angry black man too. At this point, i do not care any more. I am tired of you people who pretend to be liberals and I see a lot of you on here. This is the last time I'm going to say something on this topic because right now my blood is boiling and if I don't walk away from the computer right now I'm going to blow a gasket.

see the last midterms. Notice how progressive legislation won but officials lost. Officials trying to get the "R" vote too. Sad but true. Bernie is getting that without capitulating.

we will put forth with protest when something goes bad at the local level. But we will not get out and vote in the local elections that elect the very people who are accountable for hiring all those people who create those local problems that put us in the street to start with! This last election here , 17% of registered voters were responsible for electing Republicans to every single local and State office .
