Rubio vows to lead new 'American century' as president

MIAMI As he prepares to kick off his 2016 campaign, Sen. Marco Rubio said today he can be the leader of a new "American century" if he is elected president.

"I think this country's at a generational moment where it needs to decide not what party it wants in charge, but what kind of country are we going to want to be moving forward," Rubio told ABC News in an interview ahead of Monday night's rally in Miami.

"I think the 21st century can be the American century, and I believe that I can lead this country in that direction. I can help lead it there from the Senate. I can lead it there as president."

Sort of a project of his, a project for a new american century.

2. Isn't that a PNAC slogan?

I'm sure it is PNAC= Project for a New American Century. With that we can expect more wars.

For those who don't know. Here's a clip from a 2003 article by our own Will Pitt.

By William Rivers Pitt

02/25/03 -- - The Project for the New American Century, or PNAC, is a Washington-based think tank created in 1997. Above all else, PNAC desires and demands one thing: The establishment of a global American empire to bend the will of all nations. They chafe at the idea that the United States, the last remaining superpower, does not do more by way of economic and military force to bring the rest of the world under the umbrella of a new socio-economic Pax Americana.

The fundamental essence of PNAC's ideology can be found in a White Paper produced in September of 2000 entitled "Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategy, Forces and Resources for a New Century." In it, PNAC outlines what is required of America to create the global empire they envision. According to PNAC, America must:
* Reposition permanently based forces to Southern Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East;
* Modernize U.S. forces, including enhancing our fighter aircraft, submarine and surface fleet capabilities;
* Develop and deploy a global missile defense system, and develop a strategic dominance of space;
* Control the "International Commons" of cyberspace;
* Increase defense spending to a minimum of 3.8 percent of gross domestic product, up from the 3 percent currently spent. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article1665.htm

6. I find it hilarious that every time I click on a Rubio thread

I get an ad for shower doors. I haven't figured out yet if it's due to him guzzling the amount of water it would take a normal person to shower during his speeches, or is it a subliminal message that he's so slimy one should go shower after discussing him.

14. Of course!

He is billing himself as the only candidate that doesn't have "20th century ideas," and to prove it he uses a phrase coined in 1941.

16. WTH is he running for? He "can help lead" the country from both Senate & as Pres?

Well that's what he says. "I think the 21st century can be the American century, and I believe that I can lead this country in that direction. I can help lead it there from the Senate. I can lead it there as president."

17. Rubio thinks it's 1915

He wants to undo all that damage that "libbrul" Republican Teddy Roosevelt did.
