Indiana Passes Religious Freedom Bill

Indiana Passes Religious Freedom Bill

LGBT activists warn that the bill, which Gov. Mike Pence has indicated he will sign into law, will permit discrimination against LGBT people.

posted on March 23, 2015, at 3:18 p.m.

In a landslide 63-31 vote, the Indiana House of Representatives alarmed LGBT advocates Monday by passing a sweeping religious freedom bill that allows private parties — including businesses open to the public — to invoke a religious defense in legal cases.
Having already passed the Senate, the bill now goes to Gov. Mike Pence, who said last week he will sign it into law.

constitution, all of that, and they don't know squat about what they're talking about. It's no wonder people have tried to persecute them over eons, no wonder at all. I used to be neutral about religion until they became so obnoxious, now someone tells me they've got religion, I tell them to fuck off, they are dangerous to this country.

Basically a state where ultra rich people hand out favors to those who will fawn over them, and otherwise let them write the rules--oh yeah, and let them piss on people who they feel like pissing on. That way, they avoid having to face their own inferiority complexes and feeling like the worthless trash they are.

Don't get me wrong, the fact that any state legislature passed a shit bill like this is stunning.
That being said, in order to return a profit to its investors, a business must sell a product or service. The smaller the number of customers, the harder it is to return a profit. The harder it is to stay in business.
Only small businesses, with few customers, will do anything stupid like this. No business with a state-wide or national presence would do this dumb shit. They can't afford the negative press.
I don't have to do business with someone that is bigoted or racist or a misogynist. They go out of business. End of story.
You may not have to do business with LGBT people but as a supporter of LGBT rights, I don't have to do business with you. Have fun in in Bankruptcy Court!

...open a business, and put a sign in the window reading "this business refuses to provide service to Christians," that would be okay with them? Because my religion requires me to not do business with Christians?

Only allows freedom of religion if you are the same religion as they are. There is no freedom to worship any other way, including Christian left as well, if these fascists get control over the government.

Enforcing Biblical Law

Journalist Frederick Clarkson reports on the views of Rev. Joseph Morecraft, pastor of the Reconstructionist Chalcedon Presbyterian Church in Marietta, Georgia:

"In his book, and especially when speaking at the 1993 Biblical World View and Christian Education Conference, Morecraft discussed with relish the police power of the state. His belief in the persecution of nonbelievers and those who are insufficiently orthodox is crystal clear. Morecraft described democracy as "mob rule," and stated that the purpose of "civil government" is to "terrorize evil doers. . . to be an avenger!" he shouted, "To bring down the wrath of God to bear on all those who practice evil!"

"And how do you terrorize an evil doer?" he asked. "You enforce Biblical law!" The purpose of government, he said, is "to protect the church of Jesus Christ," and, "Nobody has the right to worship on this planet any other God than Jehovah. And therefore the state does not have the responsibility to defend anybody's pseudo-right to worship an idol!" "There ain't no such thing" as religious pluralism, he declared. Further, "There has never been such a condition in the history of mankind. There is no such place now. There never will be."
