GOP election win: A simple message for a simple people

Hello DU. I'm back.

This is my first OP in a loooong time. I was active during the GW Bush regime, here, on Truthout, MoveOn, etc. I even started my own web site ("blogs" didn't exist back then) so I could write about Bush/Cheney, the PNAC, & do my best to expose their crimes.

When Obama got elected it seemed like America (or the majority of it) had come to its senses & realized it's not a good idea to have morans & criminals running the country. I have enjoyed 6 years of relative happiness, becoming reacquainted with something called "free time" instead of spending most every evening & weekend on the computer, tracking the actions of a corrupt government & writing about their evil deeds.

Then Tuesday happened.

Shit. I mean really, shit. Shit f$%king shit.

So, it's time to get back to the computer. Time to watch these bastards like a hawk. Time to expose every damn thing they do that hurts America, every single lie, & rain as much hellfire as I can down upon them when they do.

They'll take this country when they pry it from my cold dead f$%king hands.

I'm pissed at the Dems for the way they campaigned. There was so much good to talk about (economy, jobs, deficit, etc), but they rarely did. The Repubs spent six years hate-mongering Obama, then made the election all about Obama. And the Dems allowed it to happen, instead of making the election about Dem ISSUES & POLICIES, which the American people overwhelmingly support.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Dem politicians, I'd like to spank you & rub your noses in your campaigns ... because they were shit. Don't you EVER do that again. Those of you who ran away from President Obama like cockroaches from the light, who allowed the REPUBLICANS to define the terms of the election instead of YOU, you betrayed me & everyone else who voted for our President ... F$%k you. No ... F$%K YOU!!!

And now you see the result. I'm left to once again clean up the stinking mess you made on the floor. I hope you realize this is about a lot more than just stains on the carpet & a foul odor, this is about OUR COUNTRY! This is about OUR FUTURE! This is about the triumph of science over stupidity, compassion over hate, knowledge over ignorance, & the voice of "We the People" over the donations of the wealthy 1%.

If these bastards get their way & continue ignoring climate change they just might take our planet to the point of no return ... runaway, catastrophic, global warming ... killing damn near everything on it in the process.

In other words ... THIS F$%KING MATTERS!!!

I'll say that again in case you missed it the first time: THIS F$%KING MATTERS!!!

Read that as many times as required for it to sink in.

This election shows exactly why, after decades of being a proudly registered Democrat, when I moved to a new state a couple years ago I registered as an Independent. I just didn't feel like you Dem politicians were being effective as a party, not something I was proud to be a part of. And now ... well ... do you think I'm eager to rush out & change my registration back to Dem? No, don't think so.

For the love of god Dems PLEASE learn from this election & do a HELL of a lot better in 2016. I know you have it in you somewhere, just find it & bring it out. It might require a change in leadership, I don't know, but I do know it damn sure requires a change in campaign strategy. Figure it out & give me a reason, after the 2016 election, to proudly & enthusiastically change my registration back to Democratic. Please, do that for me. Do it for America.

Whew. I feel better getting all that off my chest. And now, the original reason I started this post, this article about the election results. I think this statement about the GOPs win sums it up well:

“It was a simple message for a simple people — screw Obama,” Maher said. “And it worked. Because none of the Democrats came out for Obama.”

I needed to say that & I don't have my website anymore.

Disappointed in only 4 comments. I remember when DU was a political ACTION group, as one of my heros William Rivers Pitt noted here not long ago. Now it seems to be anything but, & so cliquish, with so much infighting between members. We infight & argue with ourselves, & the Repubs win elections.

run all the ads they could with out any tag lines to their party. Citizens United really hurt along with this asshole messaging and optics of running away from Mr. Obama. On Inauguration Day in 2013,was watching some of the commentary, the so called pundits were already testing various themes and memes. Sad to say,if you don't have listening skills and know how to apply them, you would have missed it. This has bugged the hell out of me since, know one from the Liberal Progressive ranks called these assaholes out. When Frank Luntz signed consultative contracts with all the so called MSM,I knew a shit storm was coming. Luntz and Rove are great at using focus groups to test themes. Got to hand it to the Rethugs, they used simple guilt by association optics and messaging right out of the Natzi Play book in the 1930's,and got away with it. What happened to all of my Union Brothers and Sisters, not one phone call about phone banking shoe leather lit drops. I know there is a ton of anger at Obama for not supporting our organizational efforts, hey,we needed to see the big picture here. We lost races by not having our people banging the phones and door knobs. So the fix was in big time. Answer me this, when does the next Recession begin,March April or October. You know damn well the Rethugs are going to bury us so f--n deep that its going to take more than the typical ten years to pull out of it. Looking for a Hover Style collapse, all the new players are in place as of January 2015. Read your history on your I phone or if you actually can find a History book, please read it.

It seems the Repubs have the largest majority in Congress since 1928. If you know anything about history that's shit right there.

I predict the Repubs will crash the stock market late 2015 to early 2016, before the election. I hope not, but we've seen these economic conditions before, the DOW is soaring but economic growth is lagging far behind. The value of companies on paper (stocks) far exceeds their actual physical value. I can see the Repubs crashing the market, their big donors, owning billions, if not trillions in stock, just have to all sell off on the same day. They can crash the whole market, blame it on "Obama's failed economic policies," which of course another Dem president would continue & only Repubs can fix etc.

After the crash, with stock values much lower (on sale!), the wealthy 1% reinvest & get even richer as stocks climb again.

I REALLY hope I'm wrong.
