Isn't the Iraq Debacle, it's the SUPREME COURT which has legally made corporations equivalent to individual citizens.
During the 2004 campaign, Bush said that his "ideal" judges were Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia. And he proved true to his word with Alito and Roberts.

by disenfranchising hundreds if not thousands of Florida voters, whose legitimate vote was not counted because they were not manually examined. No coincidence there; they knew what Bush would do. Both of them should have recused themselves but that would require having a conscience which they don't.

(1,989 posts)Some have used the name "Scalito" to reflect how much alike they are and perhaps I was thinking of that.

This is the shit we get when only 40% to 60% of the people come out to vote on a Tuesday night every 4 years, depending on weather. It's about time to make voting mandatory, like Australia, and do it all weekend long.

It is OUR fault for not getting out to vote and reelecting them.

(14,561 posts)but, he absolutely squared the supreme court picks - from a partisan perspective.
Both were qualified, no baggage to support any real opposition and both YOUNG, and his move to put Roberts in as chief justice instead of picking one of the existing ones ...
One of his "legacies" of his presidency will be having his pick be chief justice for going on half a century.
