I think the Dems need to get tough with their electorate about what is at stake in 2014Last edited Sat Mar 8, 2014, 10:06 AM - Edit history (1)
should the GOP take control of both houses. This is not your George W. Bush's "Compassionate Conservatism" we're talking about here. This is your " you're on your own", pull the rug out from under the safety net brand of conservatism. Thom Tillis a favorite for Senator for North Carolina doesn't believe that there should be a minimum wage at all.
http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/02/26/3655879/thom-tillis-opposes-minimum-wage.html Dems should lay it out for their constituents on what they can expect. Full repeal of the ACA. Harsh limits on Unemployment Compensation, and the Food Stamp program. Privitization of Social Security. Redistricting on Steroids, as if that is were possible. More legislation drawn up by ALEC and the Koch Brothers. Fracking on steroids. More Keystone Pipelines, traversing our plains on their way to the gulf coast with their refined oil to be shipped out of this country. No more Planned Parenthood funding, and no more right to choose even if the mother's life is at stake. People who take their current rights for granted need to know what they can expect once these people gain unbridled control of both houses of Congress. Barack Obama is the only thing that has kept us out of putting troops on the ground in Egypt, Syria, permanently entranced in Afghanistan, and if John McCain had his way, on the Ukrainian border.

2. Keep your eye on the one that's coming at you
and remember 2010. We are still paying for the tea party victories locally, statewide, and nationally.

12. You are right. If Dems. win both Houses of Congress, I'd heave a big sigh of relief. The
authoritarian conservatives will take a step backwards, and our democratic way of life
will have a good opportunity for growth -- for a change. We are the ones who have been pushed backwards during the past 3 decades! I's time to reverse the order.! |

This first, TBS. Drop that ball, and not much could salvage 2016.

15. Simple decision ...
Pick the lesser of the two evils ... like you do in your everyday real life.
Let's see: SPEND money (that could go towards the rent) to go to work versus SAVE the money by staying home from work. Hmmm. What to do, what to do ~> I know! Post a comment on a message board! |

13. The Republican could take to killing people in the streets
and within a week 55% of American would have forgotten all about it and go right on voting these idiot into office. In case you haven't notice people keep right on voting Republican no matter what the Republican have done to hurt them. Voting against your own best interest seem to be the number one past time in America. It doesn't help any when the media is owned by the rich and works to serve the best interest of the 1% at the expense of the 99%

14. I absolutely agree, if ...
by Democrats, you mean the people in the street, rather than Democratic politicians.
You and I can have a bigger effect, when we lay out what a Democratic loss will mean for the people we interact with on a daily basis, than a politician ever can. And NO ... I do not have a problem with making this a "Democrats Are Better Than Republicans" fight ... because it is the absolute truth and, psychologically, people are more moved to act to avoid loss, than to affect gain. |

16. Dems are NOT going to win with a "Republicans are bad" campaign.
Dems are going to need a comprehensive progressive platform to motivate voters. Anything less assures failure.
