Obama’s re-election rallies on Saturday to be blitzed by Romney campaign

Mitt Romney's campaign is working hard to steal President Barack Obama's spotlight this weekend, when the president is set to hold the first major rallies of his 2012 re-election campaign.

At Ohio State University in Columbus, where Obama is set to speak around 1:25 p.m. ET on Saturday, Romney aides are planning to circle the candidate's campaign bus. The campaign will also set up a phone banking operation staffed by Romney supporters and volunteers in a parking lot near the rally site at Ohio State.

The campaign is also planning to dispatch staff and local surrogates to Obama's rally at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, where the president is expected to speak at 4:35 p.m. ET.

After both events, Romney supporters will deliver a "response" to the president's remarks.

Republicans being assholes -- wonder how well this will go over with the college crowd.

What else did we expect?

I know we can expect our President to be the adult...again.

If Romney has a shred of intelligence he'll ask them to cancel their little tantrum...but, "shred of intelligence" is the problem.

something to wish Romney never tried it with Obama. They call it "bracketing."

I think idiots are running Romney's campaign. They know that President Obama always comports himself in a dignified manner. He will call them out. The comparison will make them look like frat boys. Romney is a jerk and it is reflected in the campaign.

Obama fills a fieldhouse with 35,000 people. Romney has a table outside with about 200 people. I wonder if the optics really aren't going to be so good for them.

13. Romney's campaign has no idea what they're doing.

The only reason they're running this strategy is because they ran it in the primaries. It won't hobble the president the way it hobbled Newt or Rick. But it will cause the potential for fights and confrontations that will get all over youtube. A media sensation will follow. Romney's strategy will get out of control quickly.

14. Newt and Santorum hardly had any real crowds

Newt...what crowd? Santorum's crowds probably were just a tad larger than a high school basketball game. And just how many rallies did they have anyway? Obama will have more than that combined in a single month.

So they think this tactic worked. They're about to confront a real crowd, one bigger and way more enthusiastic and younger than they are used to. I bet they don't stay for the entire rally once they get a real taste of an Obama crowd.

And they are also going to...what...phonebank? I bet the bankers won't even be able to hear themselves over the cheering and music, let alone anybody who they've called.

It's pathetic on another level. Shouldn't Romney have his own rallies now to fire up Republicans this weekend? Sure, they won't be as big as Obama's-nobody really likes him, but at least that would be a start.

A few Romney trolls and thousands of Obama supporters. They're probably thinking 'someone will bite' and they can portray 'the left' as behaving in a volatile and undignified manner towards honest to God, aww shucks conservatives.

Rattling someone and causing a news-making scene that detracts from the rally? Here's hoping folks limit themselves to just making fun of the moving trolls and don't try anything more volatile.

They'll just use one of their own people and have them pretend they're a Democrat. Republicans love to use their own people to act like scum and then have them reported as liberals. They do so love to use 'plants.'
