27 GOP Senators 'Disapprove' Of Their Own Vote To Raise Debt Ceiling

27 GOP Senators 'Disapprove' Of Their Own Vote To Raise Debt Ceiling

Twenty-seven Republican senators voted with Democrats on Oct. 16 to lift the debt ceiling and avert a catastrophic default. And each one of those 27 senators voted Tuesday to "disapprove" of their own votes.

The vote Tuesday was a symbolic "resolution to disapprove" of the debt limit hike. It was mandated by the deal thanks to a last-minute provision inserted by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). The motion failed 45-54 because all Democrats opposed it.

12. This just in:

republican gasbag from the great state of delusion says: I can not and will not support anything I have previous said because while I'm contradicting myself, I find that my comments are completely uncalled for and without basis. Now having said that, this is what I meant to say, VOTE FOR ME!

14. The want to be able to have it both ways as usual.

They want a 'record' of having opposed raising the debt ceiling without actually voting in a way which would have caused the US to default. They're hoping that their base will be too busy watching Honey Boo Boo to notice.

18. I equivocally agree unequivocally with my prior consent to dissent while reneging

on many points of merit for my pro negative vote. I hope I have made my position clear. Now lets get on to more important matters, such as investigating the scandalous ACA website failure, and lets not forget Benghazi and I might like add to touch on some of the scandals regarding the Duck Dynasty.

27. Stalinist Republicans

will the tea party have show trials for those who actually approve of governing, too?

I cannot freaking believe this is a party that thinks it should have control of one of the most powerful nations in the world.

...or that they kowtow to the idiots who just cost this nation millions.

The Republican Party needs to go away.

Let the moderates combine with conservative democrats and let liberals form the Democratic Party.

Otherwise we'll keep getting bullshit like this.

If Kerry hadn't been for something before he was against it, then all these poor misguided senators would not have flip-flopped en masse as a result of his poor example!

36. True - except Kerry was for one thing and against another

He voted for a version that "paid" for the supplemental budget by rolling back the tax cuts on the the top % - and than against the version that added it to the debt.

I understand your joke, but think it ironic given the Republican faux horror of the debt that the true difference in the two versions has rarely been thrown back at the Republicans. (Barney Frank did that - even better - by speaking of being less responsible for the debt because he voted against the tax cuts and the war.)
