but we won't see another Bush in national office for a long, long time.

Tea Partiers have cost the GOP control of the Senate. The so-called Elites will make sure that doesn't happen again.

And the Tea Party will battle them. I love it. 2/3rds of the party says "Let's get sane" and 1/3 says "We want Palin/Attila in 2016". I enjoy watching this.

Jeb Bush moves closer to 2016 run

In the strongest indication yet that the next member of the Bush dynasty is planning a 2016 presidential run, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush Tuesday agreed to appear at the upcoming CPAC convention, long considered the first step to running for president.

The American Conservative Union said that Bush will address the 40th annual Conservative Political Action Conference scheduled for March 14-16 in National Harbor, Md., on the Washington beltway. It will be his first appearance.

Bush is considered one of the leading potential candidates, along with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. However, he has been coy about his intentions.

We should never take anything for granted after what happened last time.

The odds are probably against it happening again, but 'tis best to be wary all the same.

He will likely get the nomination.
He's the "smart one", remember?

Don't underestimate him or the name.

and, they thought that McCain would have been much stronger in the general election in 2000 than W...and that there was no way Bush would win again in 2004 given how unpopular the Iraq war was becoming.

Remember, Republicans ran Mitt Romney last year, who made no attempt to hide that he was an out-of-touch elitist who favored the rich and powerful. Romney ran a laughably horrible, gaffe-filled campaign as well. Despite this, he won over 200 electoral votes and just over 47% of the popular vote.

Bush would do better with the Hispanic vote than Romney (his brother got close to 40%, while Mitt got 25%) and was a popular governor in an important swing state. It's not a big jump to improve on what Romney did in 2012.

The first time I saw W try to complete a sentence, I said to myself, "Al Gore is sure to be elected, now."

And I was right.

but, who ended up as president? We'll still be feeling the effects of W for years due to Roberts and Alito on the SCotUS and the thousands of terrorists created by the Iraq invasion, Abu Graib, etc. Not to mention the trillions added to the debt.

The NARA Act, among others, dictates that President Obama cannot throw open the books on the W. Administration, but the next President can open up a huge amount of those records to public scrutiny.

The Bushes cannot allow that to happen, for there is no statute of limitations on many of the crimes they committed. Hell, just failing to turn over all documentation--including emails--to the National Archives at the end of one's term is a felony, and we know for sure they're guilty of that because they ran most of their business through the Republican Party email servers, then pretended to lose them.

But that is nothing compared to what they were really doing. That information cannot be allowed to come to light, ever, and Jeb and his people will happily commit any number of new crimes in order to conceal the ones already committed by the Bush family and their friends.

One of the smarmy little nephews is running for office in TX. Presumably, knowing their genealogy, he's not going to be happy being local dog catcher forever & has his eyes on a larger prize.

so too, I believe are the deaths of the Republican Party and the Tea Baggers. I'm not counting them out. They will continue to do whatever changes in voting laws, in electoral college votes, in suppressing the voting with long lines in poor and minority precincts, curbing early voting and whatever other unethical, immoral tactics they can dream up. Don't forget several of the voter ID laws were just stayed for a period while courts worked through them. Some of those laws will end up being in effect for 2014.

Teabagger US Senator, Stupid teabagger governor, 13/18 US house seats, State House and State senate. Teabaggers are not dead in PA. Now they are changing the electoral college formula to use the house districts instead of winner take all.

First, we must start with the premise that, while there are a few million people who identify with the Tea Party, there never was a Tea party, per se. it was also a fictional organization -- AstroTurf. The purpose was to pressure Republicans to move radically right, as if they weren't doing that on their own.

It was simply a means to greater ends shared by the Koch brothers and lots of people like them. remember that the Koch family has been doing this same shit for 60 year at least. Their father created the damn John Birch Society -- the original AstroTurf organization.

The goal is not exactly to get their politicians elected. The goal is to eliminate any barriers to their continued aggregation of wealth. Destroy unions. Eliminate environmental regulations. Eliminate the ability for average people to get redress to the arms these businesses cause. Etc etc etc. Buying up politicians is simply a means to those ends.

It didn't start with the Tea party and it will go on even after the Tea party brand is no more useful than the John Birch brand.

It is probably true that the who Tea Party thing has outlived its usefulness to these bastards. But it doesn't mean they are going away. It just means they will keep cranking up other vehicles such as ALEC.

At the moment, they really don't need the Tea party thing anymore. They have control of lots of state legislatures and that is where they are acting. And any fool can see that the teabaggers cost them the Senate the last two cycles. So tactically they are probably ready to dump the whole teabag thing. But it is only a tactic. Just a head fake. They are in this for the long haul.
