BREAKING-Hillary Clinton hospitalized with blood clot

WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has been admitted to a New York hospital after the discovery of a blood clot stemming from the concussion she sustained earlier this month.

Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines says her doctors discovered the clot during a follow-up exam Sunday. Reines says Clinton is being treated with anti-coagulants.

Clinton was admitted to New York-Presbyterian Hospital so doctors can monitor the medication over the next 48 hours.

Reines says doctors will continue to assess Clinton's condition, "including other issues associated with her concussion."

rather than the brain because of the medication she is receiving. I had blood clots twice in my leg and I took the same medications.

Why they say it's related to the concussion, if that's the case, I can't imagine, although it could certainly be related to the fall. I hope it's the leg. That's serious, but easily treated.

7. They may have just told her to rest and just sitting around

she got a clot. Remember the newsman that died from one over in Iraq just from riding in an APC for several hours. My neighbor got one this last fall from sitting in a plane for 4 hours. Blood clots are the number one killer in hospitals I have heard.

I wish they'd say it is in her leg. Dr. Sanjay Gupta on CNN who is a neurosurgeon speculates it is a DVT (deep vein thrombosis) in her leg due to bed rest and inactivity during recovery from her illness. He said with a brain clot, it's very unusual to give blood thinners, especially since there may be a need for surgery. I hope it isn't serios and that they can take care of it and get her back on her feet. Curious she'd have a follow-up visit on a Sunday but that's when they say it was discovered.

says the blood clot is in her leg, which is somewhat of a relief to know if true. They are apparently easily treated with medication.
