It's for all the right reasons, but looks like the Soviets would have backed him too per this article.

It's called Executive Intelligence Review.

I believe that magazine also said that Walter Mondale was the Soviet agent of influence. I believe it also spread rumors about Michael Dukakis ' mental health.
