2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThere are people responsible for Trump's election. They are as follows:
1. Trump voters, both in the general election and in the primary. Why aren't Trump primary voters catching hell? They could have picked a candidate who was less outright crazy. At least Jeb or Kasich would have been predictable.
2. Non voters. This bunch of lazy, stupid cretins may not have voted for Trump, but they sure enabled the people who did. Especially all those Rust Belt morons who stayed at home. I don't ever want anyone from Wisconsin, Michigan, or Pennsylvania ever criticizing the South again. Who's stupider, the idiocracy, or the people who joined it at a later date?
3. Third party voters. Ohhh, I'm voting my conscience. If your conscience didn't tell you to vote for the only candidate in the general election capable of beating Trump, then you basically voted for Trump.
I voted for Hillary Clinton. I didn't vote for Trump, and I didn't enable him. So anybody's welcome to try some kind of postmortem that places blame on liberals, or not understanding rural voters, or not understanding the working class. Sorry, but all those rural voters had the option to vote anyone besides Trump. All those working class voters had the option to vote anyone besides Trump. You know, if you intentionally shoot someone in the back who's not threatening you, you are a murderer. It doesn't matter how upset you are. You're still a murderer. So I don't want to hear from anyone trying to justify their Trump vote.
And by the way, if anyone tells me they're not a bigot or a racist and voted for Trump, my reply is this. All kinds of white supremacists endorsed Trump, including the KKK. When you voted with them, you marched with them. And when you march with the Klan, you can say you're not a racist or a bigot all you want, but you still marched with the Klan.
4 years from now, people who will own their Trump vote will be mighty thin on the ground, and as the term goes on and Trump wets the bed in a million unpredictable, unfathomable ways, we're going to have one hell of a lot of "told you so"s to dish out.

(18,101 posts)Colin Kaepernick stands behind decision to not vote amid report that he has never been registered to vote
This comes amid a new report from the Sacramento Bee that Kaepernick has never registered to vote, either in California, where he grew up and lives now, or in Nevada, where he attended college.
According to records obtained from the California Secretary of State by the Sacramento Bee, Kaepernick, who turned 18 in 2005, has not registered to vote in California at any time since 2005. Likewise, he was not registered to vote in Nevada from 2006 through 2010, according to the county registrar of voters for Reno, Nevada.

(5,170 posts)The OP said:
"There are people responsible for Trump's election. They are as follows:"
"Responsible" means you are laying blame, which is the same saying it is their fault.
Then in post #3, you said "Here's a #2" and then posted 4 graphs, a link, and a video about Colin Kaepernick.
Words mean things. You don't get to post shit and then pretend you didn't mean what you clearly meant.

(2,550 posts)Not voting is one of the most disgusting things he could have done.
Everything he "kneels" for is moot.
I don't blame him for the election, I just pity his useless existence and I hope he gains a backbone if he wants to be a political change agent.
There is no reason to not vote, the Trump voters are better than him.

(5,170 posts)Trump would not be the president-elect?
How about we talk about meaningful thing like how the Democrats can not be in this position again in 2018. I hardly think blaming on football player, no matter how much you hate him, is useful or constructive.

(2,550 posts)I think criticizing a useless person for not voting is definitely helpful.
Strong rhetoric needs to be used to get through the head of people who talk but do no action.
He was useless.

(10,525 posts)the "fuck them, they're both crooks" behavior, they don't even realize there is other things on the ballot, he has more followers on twitter than tRump's margin of victory in PA, WI, and MI, he could've just said "vote your conscious"

(3,251 posts)Jeff Zucker, president of CNN. He CREATED Donald Trump the candidate, a Frankenstein he unleashed on the public for ratings and ad revenue.
Take a look again at A Face in the Crowd to understand what happened. It is terrifying to think our system of elections was undermined by a single person.

(3,251 posts)It is a FACT he did this. It is not a matter of opinion. The rest of the news outlets joined in when their ratings couldn't keep up with CNN.
Trump was not a serious candidate. He was a JOKE candidate. Zucker made him into a messianic cult leader. It was all done for ratings and bottom line:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/jeff-zuckers-singular-role-in-promoting-donald-trumps-rise/2016/10/02/7c3d4366-865b-11e6-a3ef-f35afb41797f_story.html
There was conflict of interest between Zucker and Trump, with their relationship stemming back many years. The public was NOT made aware of this brazen conflict of interest in the primaries.
If Zucker had not done the 24/7 promotion, Trump's campaign would have been dead long before the Iowa caucuses.
Trump would be nowhere without the carefully nurtured Fox News audience. First you have to give the creatures a lust for blood; then you give them the wolf who will howl for the kill.

(2,573 posts)emails. Her unpopularity is not valid...I understand it's presence but most of it is rooted in lies or distortions...and judging by your post...Bitterness. Yes she has flaws...she is human but line her up next to her opponent and it's clear who should of won by a landslide. It was a binary choice. That's fine if you feel Trump should of won...you got what you wanted so deal with it.

(80,708 posts)I voted for her, too, but yelling at the people who didn't vote for Hillary isn't going to magically turn them into loyal Democrats.
Yes, sure, 'told you so'. I did a lot of "told you so" with Dubya, for sure.
But we should maybe run a better campaign next time, too.

(4,446 posts)And I have to say, my intention wasn't to necessarily yell at the people who didn't vote for Hillary. It was more to say, I do not and will not take one iota of responsibility for Trump's election. I voted for her, and I donated more to her campaign than in any previous Presidential election, so I don't have to own Trump in any form or fashion. Anyone who did anything in the general election other than vote for Hillary has to.
Yes, the media has some blame for all the false equivalence, and Comey shares some blame, but we saw through the b.s., and all the Trump voters should have, too.

(36,221 posts)They are and will be due to their vote.
The ones who allowed it by not voting or voting third party or writing someone in, were ok with a racist in the white house. Why, because they didn't care enough about his outrageous bigotry to actually use their vote in a meaningful way and vote against it. They were to busy making a selfish little point about how they need an alternative or plain old Hillary hate. Well.. whatever.
Not so sure those people would ever vote democrat or why we would even care.
Plus they like to leave out she will win the popular vote by probably over 2M votes.

(29,704 posts)I ask is "Did you vote for Trump?" In blood red Arkansas the answer from both agents I spoke with was Yes. I told them immediately that I would not support anyone who voted for Drumpf and would not buy their insurance from them or their company. The UPS driver just called to check on pickups and I asked him who he voted for. He said no one, he didn't like Hillary. I told him he was a bad citizen and he needed to get involved and voting was his duty.
You told them!

(68,554 posts)You are exactly correct. Those who did not attempt to stop the Trump presidency...will have blood on their hands...today...he took step towards war with Iran. I worked to elect Hillary ...called, canvassed and donated. I did the best I could.

(68,554 posts)He will hurt many innocent people. If Bernie Sanders had been handed the primary win despite the millions of votes Hillary was ahead as some wanted, I would have voted for Bernie...even though I would have been furious, and I think he would have lost. No butthurt was worth electing Trump. I would have worked my ass off to elect Bernie. So those that put their own feeling ahead of all those innocent people Trump will destroy...you have blood on your hands...and it will never wash off.
