(26,598 posts)we had only 6 electoral votes and the state was mostly red.. We've come a long way.

(68,475 posts)Look at Arizona, Georiga and Texas all trending blue...one day we wake up and it has happened.

(38,437 posts)She could potentially lose FL, NC, and NV, which is still 284.

(68,475 posts)I think she wins FL, NC and NV...but she still wins if I am wrong.

That spells the end of the republican party as a national political party!!!

(68,475 posts)But I have a deep seated hatred of Trump...I hardly hate anyone.

(15,265 posts)It has a lot of usually deep red states either as "lean" or toss up like Texas and SC.
Demsrule86
(68,475 posts)I know it is a longshot...but it bodes very badly for the GOP in general.
DeminPennswoods
(15,265 posts)I think in states like Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Idaho, SC, Miss, etc, that are so solidly red sometimes Dems just get discouraged and don't bother to vote because they don't think their vote makes a difference.
But in those states, maybe now with the polls showing a close vote, Dems are deciding to come out because they can finally make a difference.

(37,428 posts)We need to rub it in the RNC's face that Romney-to-Trump is the wrong direction.
Me, I'm betting on Trump to get only 180-220 EV. I'll nap tomorrow afternoon, but be back in bed by midnight. We've got this.

(3,660 posts)Doesn't really matter though. The name of the website says what's important. The nutjobs wouldn't accept any D mandate even if we inverted the 84 map, and 270 is all you need to get the job.

(7,365 posts)But the trend is good...20 years ago Colorado, Virginia and North Carolina were solid Republican holds. Now those states all now lean Dem. Demographics are changing, education levels are rising there and it's bringing more Dems to the fold.
Now we're seeing states like Arizona, even Georgia starting to lean Republican, but no longer the slam dunk. Things are changing.
That said, I don't see a bastion of a Liberal revolution. Eventually the Republicans will figure out they must appeal to people of color, women, and other minorities at which point they will begin to siphon off some of the minority vote. This should be their last stand....one last shots for the old South. Then they should wash their hands of this crowd and welcome in blacks, latinos, women, gay people, scientists, etc...into their tent. Either that or the Democrats will make further inroads.

(15,365 posts)Like others here, I believe that AK could go blue this year. https://www.adn.com/politics/2016/10/17/alaska-inches-towards-toss-up-in-presidential-polling/
UT may also prefer McMullin over Trump. While Hillary obviously wouldn't get any electoral votes there, Trump wouldn't either in that case. See, e.g., http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/features/2016/11/evan-mcmullin-utah-donald-trump-161105032535083.html McMullin is also on the ballot in ID and could possibly be a spoiler for Trump there, although that looks to be a very long shot. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/10/24/1586457/-New-Idaho-Poll-Finds-Trump-Ahead-Clinton-Second-McMullin-Third
I still believe that many polls - especially those in "red" Western states - have failed to account for the "sleeper" Hillary vote, i.e., women of BOTH political parties who will proudly cast their votes for the first woman President. I sincerely hope that I am correct in this!
I have been getting a surprising number of likes for my pro-Hillary FB posts from many female acquaintances in MT. I have known some of these since we were in grade school together, so I know VERY well that they do not normally vote for Democratic candidates. This is anecdotal soft data, I know. But we will see the actual effect after tomorrow.
I am keeping my fingers crossed because I want to see Trump and Republicans generally CRUSHED!
