40. Youve Got To Be Carefully Taught

You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!

45. Rogers & Hammerstein from the musical South Pacific 1949

James Michener wrote Tales of the South Pacific in 45, published in 46, musical in 49, movie in 58. Put on Lincoln High School Stage, Michigan 1975. I did make up& costumes. The movie is kind of clunky now but very worth a watch. It must have rocked viewpoints then.

his parents are big bullies and it's easier for the admins to just leave the teachers to try repeatedly to appease them.

It's bad enough to be so full of hate and anger when you're a washed-up middle-aged moran [sic] brimming with regret, but this kid has his whole life in front of him. It must be awful to feel such vitriol, and not even know why

36. Brainwashing

I coach ice hockey and now and then the kids (11-12 year olds) like to bring up politics. I implore them to focus on LEARNING things...learn math, science, read books, get to know about different cultures and of course play great hockey as a team. My assistant coach is a Trump head and he is more outspoken, but my locker room is a strict no politics area, because

A) you kids have not had the time to develop the wisdom or knowledge to analyze the complex political issues of the day
B) not everyone thinks alike and our goal is to come together and I find too many use politics to divide us

I think Maher said it best, that when kids are able to express your ideology then your ideology is child-like anyway.

If he is expressing hatred and anger, he learned it from adults. The adults should be criticized.

58. The OP does criticize the parents

that is inherent in the title of the OP. Nowhere does it say OP criticizes the kid.

And the kid being exposed to it as a child makes it somewhat more likely he will grow up to be what his parents taught him to be, though admittedly he may find another way. But what he is exposed to is not mild or even just talk.

60. The title just says "Oh. My. God." Maybe it was changed?

And I don't know how true it is that he'll be more likely to grow up that way, but to me it doesn't matter. He hasn't grown up, yet, and he didn't pick his parents. Being picked on for it by us will make it less likely to listen to us later. That's how people grow and change, by being exposed to different people. If those people are being mean and making fun of him, how well do you think that will go? My parents were right wingers. I'm glad the internet wasn't around back then.

61. Merely showing the photo of the kid in public is not criticizing him

and of course "oh my god" is a reaction to the fact some parent brought their kid there and has convinced their kid to feel that way.

Like the Dixie Chicks, who were shocked not so much by the ire directed at them, but by the mother instructing her young child to hate them. That wasn't criticizing the kid, it was shock that there are parents who would teach their kids like that.

63. Then the same needs to be applied to bullys in general then

I assume then you think criticizing a kid that age who bullies other should not be allowed - it's the same thing. That kid's face is full of hate - He's not 4 years old and old enough to take part in this hate fest willingly.

And yes..his parents suck ass because he most likely learned it from them. But he is old enough now to take part and not just sit back because his imbecile parents brought him there.

Fine line here - I for one think anyone who acts like this is open to criticism. I'm done with coddling their hate at any level or age.
