2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLook DU members .... You can try to hide your head in the sand and pretend this is nothing but.....
Someone planned this. Comey is no fool.
It was done in such a manner that Hillary can hardly defend herself. Hillary was on her way toward a landslide. The Democratic Party would take the Senate. What do you do if you are a Republican. Boom!
Now what do we really know about that computer? Who handled it? Comey just sits back and implies there is a problem. He doesn't have his agents come forward.
If you want to sit back and act like it is all cool. Well the GOP is laughing at you. Roger Stone is laughing at you. They are about to steal the election while you say oh it's okay.
Nothing wrong with asking a few questions. Get some verification. Or sit back and let the lies win.

(135,425 posts)That roar you hear is HRC supporters saying "FUCK YOU" to Comey and the wingnuts.
This thing has had an effect--a boomerang effect. The only people who are "energized" are diehard Trumphumpers and angry Hillary-ites.
No one is stealing the election. Only idiots who support Trump and think that this bullshit has wings believe that.
"Roger Stone is laughing at you?" Please. Such concern.
Comey IS a fool--and he's going to pay dearly for it, too. He thought he had job security through 2022. He'd maybe better think again.

(65,616 posts)attempt by the GOP to throw the election in their favor. I love how some people don't get why record numbers of people are voting for the Democratic candidates.
Either that or they are just desperate.

(65,616 posts)The lead story if of course our elections, but another equally big story should be how Russia evidently has more influence in our country then we ever thought possible.
Hope you are having a good day Cha.

Mofo thought he could come out and say anything he damn pleased 11 days before the biggest election of our lifetime?!
Now the FBI has activated a dormant account from 2012 to tweet more shite about Clintons?
Thank you, MADem!

(135,425 posts)Sometimes, people should realize that commentary is like spice in food--a little encourages thought, a lot tastes like shit and requires that the whole dish be tossed in the trash.
A bit too spicy, this, for my tastes....and that stink of "hair on fire" doesn't do much for anyone's appetite!

There is NO goddamned scandal. Get THAT through your head.
UCmeNdc
(9,600 posts)Actually there is a bit of a scandal. The scandal is: The head of the FBI hints using the press, that he may have new emails showing a Sec. of State carelessly handled classified intel. Even though the head of the FBI offers no proof.
Demsrule86
(68,555 posts)Actually Comey did not say that or hint that...but you did.

(135,425 posts)Harry Reid: FBI Director Comeys Partisan Actions May Violate Federal Law
Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid said FBI Director James Comey may have violated a federal law when he disclosed, less than two weeks before the presidential election, that his office was pursuing potential new evidence related to Democratic nominees Hillary Clintons use of a private email server as secretary of state.
Mr. Reid was preparing to send a letter to Mr. Comey on Sunday saying he appears to be aiding one political party over another. He said that may violate the Hatch Act, which bars government officials from using their position to influence an election.
I am writing to inform you that my office has determined that these actions may violate the Hatch Act, Mr. Reid wrote, according to a draft of the letter provided to The Wall Street Journal. Through your partisan actions, you may have broken the law.
A spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation didnt immediately respond to a request for comment......

(12,448 posts)It is indeed something when the FBI Director acts as a partisan hack, talking about emails which he hasn't even looked at because there is no warrant yet. How transparently partisan can he get?
Of course it's something, and if you had read the threads here on DU condemning this farce, you'd know that nobody is hiding their head in the sand about this steaming crap. Nobody is acting like it's "cool."

(9,600 posts)Comey seems unwilling to investigate Russian involvement. There is something that is not right with Comey, the initial letter to the GOP 1st, lack of sustained investigation by FBI into Trump's background, correctly timed and precise leaks out of the FBI. Just asking questions here.

(9,600 posts)Earlier this month, the group of computer scientists passed the logs to Paul Vixie. In the world of DNS experts, theres no higher authority. Vixie wrote central strands of the DNS code that makes the internet work. After studying the logs, he concluded, The parties were communicating in a secretive fashion. The operative word is secretive. This is more akin to what criminal syndicates do if they are putting together a project. Put differently, the logs suggested that Trump and Alfa had configured something like a digital hotline connecting the two entities, shutting out the rest of the world, and designed to obscure its own existence. Over the summer, the scientists observed the communications trail from a distance.

(21,056 posts)People are gonna talk about it and say we have to do everything we can to talk to others about the election instead of sitting on DU all day. I have been away for hours talking about the election to people who are not highly supportive of Hillary. I come back here after this newest Comey assault on democracy is performed, and some are going off about people throwing a fit about his actions. Really?
Just wipe their poo flinging off, and stick in one thread if you can, about the topic. If you're being supportive of Clinton, and talking about how shitty Comey's actions are to Democracy - you don't gotta 'splain nothing to nobody!

Russian intelligence is all over placing disinformation into this election.
FBI Examining Fake Documents Targeting Clinton Campaign
U.S. Senator Tom Carper, a Democrat on the Senate Homeland Security Committee, has referred one of the documents to the FBI for investigation on the grounds that his name and stationery were forged to appear authentic, some of the sources who had knowledge of that discussion said.
In the letter identified as fake, Carper is quoted as writing to Clinton, We will not let you lose this election, a person who saw the document told Reuters.

Huffington post is now reporting that fact. Did you know that?

(11,631 posts)And in retrospect I don't think they thought it would push Trump over the top. I have my doubts the Repub establishment would even want that to happen. But what it did do is drive a 5 day media cycle with Clinton email news to fire up a demoralized republican base enough to make the House look safe for them and the Senate at least competitive.
