No, Donald Trump, abortions do not happen at 9 months pregnant

No, Donald Trump, abortions do not happen at 9 months pregnant
Sarah Kliff Oct 19, 2016

Donald Trump made a very specific attack on Hillary Clinton’s position on abortion at the final presidential debate, arguing that the Democratic candidate was “saying in the ninth month you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb.”

It’s a mischaracterization of Clinton’s position, it’s a mischaracterization about what abortion looks like in the United States, and it’s a mischaracterization of how obstetricians treat late-term patients.

Here’s Trump accusation: ...............

The federal government estimates that 91.4 percent of abortions in the United States are performed in the first 13 weeks of pregnancy. An estimated 1.3 percent of abortions happen later than 21 weeks into pregnancy. And none are happening on “the final day” of pregnancy. As one abortion provider trained in late-term abortion tweeted ... Gunter went on to explain in her tweets, sometimes obstetricians will induce pregnancy at 36 weeks due to anencephaly (when a major portion of the brain is missing and the baby cannot survive). But that is not an abortion. It is induced labor to deliver a baby that will not live.

If you rip a baby out of the mother’s womb at three days before it was due, that is a C-section. If you intentionally harm and kill the child, that is infanticide. It is not abortion — and it is not what Clinton has ever supported.

3. Hillary didn't need to correct him on that. Women knew better, and most males too.

a nasty woman who knows better than to allow what he says to matter one iota while delivering her message. At the same time he can't keep it zipped when she says something negative about him.

He's got two "can't keep it zipped" problems ....

Hillary Clinton gives the single most complete defense of Roe v. Wade in recent memory
By Jen Hayden Oct 19, 2016

CLINTON: Because Roe v. Wade very clearly sets out that there can be regulations on abortion so long as the life and the health of the mother are taken into account. And when I voted as a senator, I did not think that that was the case. The kinds of cases that fall at the end of pregnancy are often the most heart breaking, painful decisions for families to make. I have met with women who have toward the end of their pregnancy get the worse news one could get—that their health is in jeopardy if they continue to carry to term or that something terrible has happened or just been discovered about the pregnancy. I do not think the United States government should be stepping in and making those most personal of decisions. So, you can regulate, if you are doing so with the life and the health of the mother taken into account.

WALLACE: Mr. Trump, your reaction, and particularly on this issue of late term partial birth abortion.

TRUMP: I think it's terrible if you go with what Hillary is saying in the ninth month, you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby. Now, you can say that that's okay and Hillary can say that that's okay, but it's not okay with me. Because based on what she is saying and based on where she is going and where she has been, you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb in the ninth month on the final day. And that's not acceptable.

CLINTON: Well, that is not what happens in these cases. And using that kind of scare rhetoric is just terribly unfortunate. ............

So impressive how measured Hillary's response is, there is just no baiting her.

My jaw dropped when he said it..twice! At 9 months, that's a full-term, very viable baby, barring some problems. "Ripping out" a baby, as he put it, is either a C-section or possibly an induced labor. Certainly not an abortion.

First I've seen the attention paid to this, but then, so much garbage came out of his mouth last night I guess it was easy to overlook!
