My October Letter to the Editor

I have been writing 2-3 political letters a month for the last 7 years. We have 2 papers in Stevens Point, WI.I have posted some of them on here. This is my Oct letter which will be published this Friday. I will be so glad when I don't have to use my words on Cheeto, anymore. Please to enjoy. Jody.

Kent State University Sunday May 3, 1970, 50 students were protesting Nixon's "secret plan" to end the War. He wasn't going to tell anybody because it was secret. Then he declared on TV a major expansion of the War. Citing illegal assembly 1000 National Guardsmen were tear-gassing and bayoneting students herding them into the dorms. Ben Post had to testify at a hearing four months later because nobody would believe these kids were bayoneted.

Monday noon, students were changing classes and guardsmen advanced down the hill surrounding them. Dean Kahler watched as a group of them knelt down and aimed their rifles from 92 yards away. No warning was given. Joe Lewis gave them the finger and was shot through his abdomen, the bullet exiting his left jeans pocket. 28 guardsmen in unison shot 67 bullets in 13 seconds at unarmed students. Four students were killed, nine wounded.

Jeffrey Miller was lying there with half his neck blown off. Sandy Scheuer was just going into her dorm room and got hit with a stray bullet. Bill Schroeder, a ROTC guy, was on the ground with his books over his head, but the bullet entered his butt, went through his thoracic cavity and came out his shoulder. All vital organs gone. Allison Krause was behind a car, shot through the chest. Joe Lewis raised Catholic, wasn't afraid, but to be safe, he said a good Act of Contrition.

Guardsmen climbed up telephone poles, lopping off cables, which is common in military battles. Allison's mother heard on the radio and collapsed at the hospital identifying the body. Men with guns outside the hospital muttered "They should have shot more." (Ronald Reagan repeated this later.)

Lewis came to after 48 hours only wanting to say to his parents at his bedside that he did nothing wrong. Kahler had a lung removed and his thoracic 9 10 and 11 shattered, making him a paraplegic. His parents brought him mail to the ICU. He opened a lovely card, on the left side it said, "Dear Communist hippie radical, I hope by the time you receive this, you are dead." His dad lost 50 pounds, his mother gained 50. A mixed couple, his mom was Republican, his dad a Democrat and they believed in their government. They could not believe their government declared war on their son.

Neil Young, the Shakespeare of our times, immediately recorded a song about this travesty. You piss off Neil, he's going to write something good. Joe Lewis said "Every time OHIO came on I'd cry, for 15 years."

2016 Trump has a secret plan for war. He says he would start WW3 over a "gesture". An authoritarian, claiming to be the law and order candidate, he threatens to get rid of the First Amendment. Is this the guy you will vote for? Four Dead in Ohio.
