Let's step back: the days are bright

I've been stressed and depressed, but my mind is clearing up.

Here's what's going on:

- We are a couple weeks away from electing our first woman President
- We almost certainly will have improved representation in Congress, good chance will pickup Senate, off chance the House
- We stand a strong chance of making the Supreme Court sane, undoing decades of damage
- The GOP is eating itself, and is in total chaos, and is doing badly
- Nothing is guaranteed, but every day that passes, things look better for us -- both the numbers that come out, and shrinking window for the GOP to turn it around

Moreover, despite some media whore-ish-ness, most folks are seeing things the same way. We're not sitting on isolated islands of sanity, like we were during Bush's first term, which was horrible.

But it doesn't feel that way. Because we have got three assholes stinking up the place:

- Donald Trump: lashing out, having his predation exposed, defiling our civic norms
- Vladimir Putin: pulling strings, undermining Western Democracy
- The Trump Supporter: confused, racist, angry, conspiratorial, doomed

Don't confuse the present for the future. We have a few more ugly weeks, but we and Hillary will get thru them, and:

- Donald Trump: Will be a loser. His brand will be worth nothing. His wastrel sons a disgrace. And a pile of lawsuits from all sides.
- Vladimir Putin: Remember, Russia is a broken country. These bullshit e-mail hacks are the weapons of the weak. He will be Hillary's primary enemy, Putin has no friends, and his resources are a rounding error of ours.
- The Trump Supporter: will have to listen to the phrase "Madame President" for years. The phrase will sound jarring, illogical, a contradiction in terms, but over and over they will hear it, like the permanent crash of waves against the sand.

And who will make sure that the tide doesn't turn the next few weeks? That the odds will go from 90 to 100%? Who has to exert themselves to end this nightmare? No one. Trump will do it himself.

Have a beer, donate $10 to Hillary or ActBlue.

Hillary and team have concentrated on registering voters and early voting, a delightful palate cleanser from the news these days.

I sent in a small (all I could afford) donation on Monday and will send another next week. One of the email requests for donations spoke of snacks for phone bankers. It's fun to think my donation went there.

I have careened between adulation that Clinton looks to be trouncing him now, and utter dismay at the millions and millions who will vote for this shitstain.

It is good to put this all in perspective... thanks.
