Best play for the GOP is for Pence to step down...

in a joint announcement with Ryan and McConnell, Pence would state he's going to put 100% of his time and focus on crucial Senate and House races, supporting conservatives. His payback would be strong establishment support for 2020.

I hope he remains handcuffed to Trump, but were I Pence, Ryan or McConnell, that's what I'd see as the best case scenario in all this.

I'm all for it.

You know Hillary is locked and loaded for that kind of attack.

There is nothing Trump can do or say that will get his supporters to switch to Hillary.

The key is for Hillary's team to make sure that her voters come out and vote in large numbers.

Everything else is just noise to support television advertising.

He made a poor choice then, and it's a little hard to turn back now.

5. Won't happen. There is no best play anymore. There is no play at all. The ship sank.

The survivors are in lifeboats, adrift in the dark, in shock, and wondering if help even exists.

And the lifeboats are so full, they have to worry that some gross bloviator might make a wave.
