HUFFPOLLSTER: Democrats Are Rallying Around Hillary Clinton
HUFFPOLLSTER: Democrats Are Rallying Around Hillary Clinton
A poll finds that the enthusiasm gap between Republicans and Democrats has completely closed. 10/07/2016 07:58 am ET Ariel Edwards-Levy Staff Reporter and Polling Director, The Huffington Post Natalie Jackson Senior Polling Editor, The Huffington Post DEMOCRATS ARE GROWING MORE ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT CLINTON - Kathy Frankovic: “Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton not only ‘won’ last week’s first presidential debate, but according to the latest Economist/YouGov Poll, she managed to raise the enthusiasm of her supporters, erase some doubts about her health and stamina, and outscore Republican Donald Trump on a series of ‘presidential’ qualities, including temperament, qualifications and even appearance. The debate made little impact on vote preference – Clinton led Trump by three points among registered voters before the debate in a four-way contest, and she led Trump by the same margin afterwards. 43% say they will vote for Clinton in the four-way contest this week, while 40% favor Trump. But Clinton’s supporters clearly are feeling better about her candidacy now than they were before the debate. They are now just as likely as Trump‘s voters to say they are enthusiastic about their party’s nominee. Last week, there was a 13-point gap in enthusiasm. The enthusiasm gap narrowed not only because Clinton’s voters are happier with her candidacy. The percentage of Trump voters who say they are enthusiastic about his position as the GOP nominee dropped six points after the debate.” [YouGov] http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/democrats-hillary-clinton-enthusiasm_us_57f78aa8e4b0b6a430316a1b?

1. I suspect the high profile surrogates out there might have something to do with it...
Having the most popular president in modern history, his very popular first lady, and several of the most prominent progressive senators we've known in recent times out on the campaign trail can't hurt.
![]() It also helps to have the most odious and incompetent excuse for a candidate to run against anybody has ever heard of. |

3. I suspect you're wrong
That debate was a game - changer and it made many people who weren't crazy about Hillary feel OK about supporting her. Why would you think "surrogates" who haven't made a dent in anyone's opinions up until this point would suddenly make a difference?

6. it was
It was the first time people were able to see them interact with each other at the same time and the contrast was undeniable. I've been a vocal critic of Hillary and I still do not trust her on many issues but the choice was clear and Hillary was by far the better one.

11. And she's just warming up
Wait till "round 2." She'll deliver the knockout punch and Donald wouldn't know what hit him!

Pisses me off when all the media do that damn horse race thing, the polls have gone up, she's now up by 6 points, why can't they tell the truth?
