2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI have a lot more respect for Tim Kaine tonight.
Saw some levels there I didn't know he had.
Same feeling I had about Hillary in her convention acceptance speech.

(32,886 posts)A little better anyway. But Kaine was all over Trump, Pence didn't do as good a job of attacking Hillary.
As I said in an OP, As long as it is relatively close I don't care who won the debate, I care who more effectively attacked the opposing Presidential candidate. My goal for this debate was for it to not stop the death spiral of the Trump campaign.

(2,550 posts)Prior to the debate I disliked Kaine.
After debate, I believe he has balls. That's meant to be a compliment, I don't have a better way to say it.
Mike Pence did OK, he seemed sincere, but I focused on Kaine and have a new respect for Kaine.

(48,988 posts)I have a new found respect for Kaine and even more respect for Clinton who hade the foresight to pick a charming fighter. Pence looked weak.

(16,104 posts)Pence is merely a liar - in that sense, Trump made a good choice for a running mate.
The M$M wants to make it a contest - 2 more debates to promote - but Pence did not help Trump tonight.

How many times did Pence have to fall back on some rehearsed line and stare around the room with that goofy face of his?
Kaine just blew his doors off.
Pence rehearsed lines served red meat to his base, but nowhere did his message appeal to the center or the left. He was off topic over and over, having to be reminded to answer the question.
HRC-Kaine are 2 - 0.
