2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumComey - Gowdy exchange on July 7, can anyone clarify the following ?
In their exchange, Gowdy asked was Clinton telling the truth that there was no classified material in the emails, to which Comey replied it was not truthful.
Now my recollection is that at that point, there were 3 emails that Comey had determined as Classified, and that subsequently a Democrat Congressman had honed in on those 3 emails, and got Comey to admit that there should have been Classified markings on the Headers (but there weren't), so those also could not be adjudged to Classified. Consequently, Clinton HAD been telling the truth.
I just watched MSNBC show the Comey - Gowdy exchange and it stops at that point, judging Hillary's claim to be untrue.
Can anyone explain this ? Did Comey issue a clarification, and if so, where is it ?

(19,953 posts)Did Clintons emails contain classified information?
Yes. More than 2,000 of the 30,490 emails Clinton turned over to the State Department in December 2014 contained classified information, including 110 emails in 52 email chains that contained classified information at the time they were sent or received, Comey said. The FBI director said a very small number of the emails containing classified information bore markings indicating the presence of classified information, contrary to Clintons claims that none was marked classified.
Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of the classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information, Comey said.

(19,953 posts)WAS being truthful ? If there isn't one, shouldn't someone in the Clinton campaign have requested Comey issue a public statement clarifying this ? Is anyone from the campaign going to contact MSNBC about this morning's hatchet job ?

(59,501 posts)It might be that no one who is likely to vote for Clinton will not do so due to the emsil charges. It might be the fact that Comey said no prosecutor would indict is the real final word.
They may feel that ANYTHING not questioning Trump or talking issues is a bad idea. The email thing is a bad topic where HRC herself said what she did was a mistake.

(19,953 posts)brings up questions", however THAT was before the hearing with Comey where he accepted that ALL the contested emails were not classified. If a pro Democrat like him didn't understand the consequences, what hope has the voter ?
