2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDid anyone really believe Donald Trump was going to act "more Presidential" in the general election?
I heard some people posit that after he nominated, he'd tone it down for a more mass appeal to the wider spectrum of voters.
But I for one never believed it for a second.
He's a prisoner of his own toxic personality. He simply cannot contain himself.

(4,311 posts)A narcissistic personality disorder causes problems in many areas of life, such as relationships, work, school or financial affairs. You may be generally unhappy and disappointed when you're not given the special favors or admiration you believe you deserve. Others may not enjoy being around you, and you may find your relationships unfulfilling.

(30,807 posts)I was incredulous. It was so obvious all along that Trump doesn't have the ability to control his behavior.

After that, there was little doubt in my mind that it wasn't an act.
A Holocaust survivor says that Hitler was also viewed as a clown by Germans when he first became a public figure:

One of the things people used to say about Hitler when he rose to power in the early 1930s was that he was saying it like it is, my dad told me over the phone from Tel Aviv. They thought he was a bit of a clown, with his big speeches and over-the-top showmanship, but they also admired his ability to say what everyone thought, but didnt dare say out loud.

He can remain a poorly behaved kid in the sandbox for the rest of his life, but we shouldn't have to put up with it.

(14,530 posts)is the operative word here. Sure he can at times act more presidential, but that is all it would be -an act.
This is what is wrong with the media. They are focusing on words, not the entire erratic behavior. They are reporting on trump as if he is a sane choice for this country.
I saw a video released by Drudge the other day. Clinton was surrounded by reporters asking her questions. A reporter asked her a question and was extending her cell phone toward Clinton's head, just as Clinton was turning around to respond. Clinton jumped back, startled, then laughed about it. Everyone there was joking about it. She was called "crazy" or having seizures. Because she was joking around. Yes I know it is Drudge, but the meme is being forwarded as legit.
Now we have Trump. Even the left blogs, like addicting info are focusing on his "no more mr nice guy" comment. Ignoring the 40 plus minutes of a speech that Palin wishes she was stupid enough to give. It was disjointed, incoherent rambling. The MSM reports on trump's every word, yet never mentions the overall instability. This is why Trump is where he is.
20% of Americans believe the Sun revolves around the Earth. Trump should not be polling any higher than that.
