Fer Gawds sake get a grip

Long ongoing friction is coming to the surface in the convention. But on Thursday night there will be a triumphal speech by Clinton, the balloons will drop, Sanders and a majority of his supporters will go with Clinton (with varying degrees of enthusiasm), and then the campaign will move forward.

There will be some who supported Bernie who will go with Stein instead, or will become totally cynical about partisan politics and focus elsewhere.

If Clinton can convince enough Sanders supporters -- and the overall population -- that she is capable and trustworthy and superior to Trump, she will win. If she can not...well, buckle up because we're in for a bumpy ride.

Regardless, on other levels the friction and give and take between the "centrists" and "progressives" who will work to reform the Democratic Party will continue long into the future. Hopefully, the Bernie movement will lead to enough reforms and open enough doors to create a more level playing field for progressives.

Life will go on.

They even offered Madame Clinton a roll-call as a gesture of good will and an attempt at party unity because Clinton supporters were still having trouble accepting Obama as the party's nominee.

The world didn't end because some people are dissatisfied that the person they supported lost. Those who truly value this country and its citizens will do the right thing.

mostly because that didn't happen. Clinton's delegates comported themselves as one expects adults should.

This handful of bitterenders are behaving in a way that should result in having their credentials yanked. That they haven't been is indicative of great patience on the part of the the organizers.

I remember the comments of some of the Clinton delegates and some of the inappropriate remarks that were made. Many threatened to vote for McCain. I just think they were, perhaps, a tad more experienced in the political process and not willing to embarrass the party as the Sanders "supporters" seemed to be willing to do.

Her supporters, on the other hand, openly threatened to vote for McCain -- at the convention and perhaps on this board as well.

Again, my point is that you can't always control your supporters. It looks like the Sanders supporters are hopefully toning things down now.

There should have been changes to the platform and Elijah Cummings said he worked well with Bernie to implement those changes. Bernie has encouraged his supporters to vote for the Clinton/Kaine ticket.

If you "can't always control your supporters," you can still do your level best to get them to support the party's ticket. Sanders didn't do that.

Now it's late to "encourage" them to do anything -- or to "control" them, either.

do not understand or support what we are all about. It is beyond offensive that delegates should be trashing our Party this way if they only intend to go off to vote Green. We aren't talking about Bernie supporters or voters, we are talking about Democratic delegates who theoretically care about the Democratic Party and its goals. These people are booing mention of civil rights advances and staying quiet at the mention of needing to stop Trump. These are not Democrats.

They screamed at a civil rights icon as he talked about his father and his heritage, BLM and women's rights. They screamed at a female AA pastor as she said a PRAYER.

These are disgusting thugs. Bernie delegates on MSNBC saying they will not vote for Hillary, that she should be in prison, that they will vote for Trump. Bernie delegates chanting "LOCK HER UP". These are NOT DEMOCRATS. They're not in my party and I will never again have patience to listen to their ENDLESS COMPLAINTS about everything. But hey guess what, they're not going to be the ones hurt by a Trump presidency! They don't give a SHIT about AAs, Latinos, Muslims, LGBT, women, the working poor, the poor and homeless, or the disabled. They don't give a SHIT about anyone but themselves. They will gleefully watch as those groups I mentioned get ground under the boot of a Trump presidency. They are driven by blind incoherent, violent rage. They are not trolls. They are a fact, and you guys need to deal with it or risk losing the election by failing to unify the party.

Those emails are a betrayal, and I don't blame the Sanders supporters one bit for being angry. They should dissolve the DNC and vote in a new organization.

I hope someone pays attention. Democratic Party, if you want to unify people, then stop with the name calling, play fair, and offer a real place at the table.
