Am I the only one tired of the Bullying of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz?

While I may not agree with her on policy or appreciate the way she ran the DNC, I am just bone tired of the constant piling on and bullying of one woman to the point where the web has become rife with sexist comments and nasty egregious insults.
I'm not talking about just today, I'm talking the past year or so. The General Election is here. This ramping up of attacks on Debbie does absolutely nothing to help us win in November and I just do not see how it is helpful for Democrats to tear the party apart over the DNC chair.

44. Donald Trump, Roger Stone, Jack Abramoff, Gaming Gaming and Scalping the Tribes.

How is it that two consumate Republican insiders, both purported specialists in illegal
funding of campaigns, one a political dirty trickster who stays behind the scenes and
the other a felonious convict linked to the White House political office, each manage
to garner tens of millions of dollars from Indian tribes in the gaming rackets? By
working both sides at once, of course. And, how is it that one gets convicted and goes
to jail while the other keeps getting paid? Who is scalping whom for how much, who has
lost their scalp, who still has theirs, and will Donald Trump's hair survive the scandals?

With all the attention to Abramoff defrauding the Tribes, why isn't there more attention on
who else is involved in all of gaming's political machinations and influence peddling?

Who has lucrative contracts to receive a percentage of the gross from Indian casinos, and
how did they obtain it? Where is all that money going? How much ends up in the coffers of
politicos like Sen. John McCain, and why? Who else is scalping the Tribes?

And how much of the scalping goes to legal and illegal campaign contributions?

Questions to be answered.

36. Who is Roger Stone, Jr.? Buckley, Nixon, Reagan, Bush operative.

"Roger J. Stone, Jr. is a long-time Republican dirty-tricks operative who led the mob that shut down the Miami-Dade County recount and helped make George W. Bush president in 2000. He was also a campaign strategist during the presidential campaigns of Presidents Nixon, Reagan and George Herbert Walker Bush. .............

A Dirty Trickster's Bush Bonanza
The man who stopped Miami recount makes gaming millions
by Wayne Barrett
April 19th, 2004 9:30 AM
http://www.villagevoice.com/news/...........

Roger Stone, the dirty-tricks hobgoblin of Republican politics, has exploited his Bush connections to become an influence-peddling force in the $13 billion Indian gaming industry. Stone's booming business in such a federally regulated enterprise makes his recent pro bono orchestration of Al Sharpton's double-edged presidential campaign an even stranger covert caper.

The longtime GOP consultant's reward for fomenting the "Brooks Brothers mob" that shut down the Miami-Dade recount in 2000 was an invitation within days of Bush's election to serve on the Department of Interior transition working group—helping, in his own words, to staff its Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). Stone has since used this unannounced perch to market himself to tribes and developers from Louisiana to California, earning fat fees and contingent percentages of future casino revenue. Just two of the five deals examined by the Voice are projected to pay him at least $8 million, and perhaps as much as $13 million.

Time, The Washington Post and The New York Times have published exposés about Bush's BIA, with a February story highlighting $45 million in payments to two GOP lobbyists from four tribes since 2001. But no one has focused on Stone's profiteering, which, unlike the payments to registered lobbyists, is not reported on any public filings. ..............

What role did Stone play in financing the Contras? .............

Who is Roger Stone? A slash-and-burn Republican black-bag election tamperer and consultant whose mentor was the repulsive Roy Cohn — the redbaiting hatchet man for Senator Joe McCarthy. Stone first made news in the Nixon Watergate scandal, when it was revealed that the 19-year-old apprentice McCarthyite had infiltrated George McGovern’s 1972 presidential campaign as part of CREEP’s sabotage plan. ... Stone helped Ollie North raise money for the Nicaraguan contras, and was a close associate of the notorious Lee Atwater ...

This one, my favorite, exemplifes the lengths to which these unscrupulous operatives will go just to malign a Dem candidate. This is not democracy, it is criminal conduct.

48. Swiftboating Al Gore from Argentina, SIDE, Israeli wire transfers, spy files, forgery, Bush & Menem

un-10-07 04:44 PM by L. Coyote
There just is no way to make this stuff up!! This is a court pleading. Unbelievable.

First get some spy files from Israel, alter them to look like Argentine spy files, make them implicate Bush and Menem in corruption, blame Gore for the forged documents. Sound familiar. Did I mention blackmailing bribed journalists and, of course, the perennial covert Republican dirty tricksters. This genre of dirty trick came to be known as "swiftboating" when done to Kerry four years later by the same players!!

Appeal from the United States District Court Decided: December 1, 2005

Triumph Communications International Group, Incorporated is a corporation that provides political consulting and public relations services and is owned and operated solely by Mattie Lolavar.

In early 2000, Miss Lolavar began discussions with defendant Dick Morris about the possibility of her working with Craig Snyder and defendant Roger Stone, who are partners in defendant IKON Holdings, Inc., another political consulting firm ... about the possibility of Triumph Communications’ assistance with work that IKON was doing for the government of Argentina.
These discussions lead to two contracts ... and provided that Triumph would act as a public relations consultant to "the Secretary of Intelligence of Argentina" as well as arrange various media events...

Miss Lolavar went to Argentina in August 2000 to assist de Santibañes with preparations for his testimony in Argentine congressional hearings inquiring into allegations that he and the Argentine intelligence agency, known as SIDE, were responsible for bribing various Argentine senators in exchange for political support. Morris and Stone assigned other tasks to Miss Lolavar while she was in Argentina. Among other acts, they instructed her to contact SIDE and obtain a list of journalists who accepted bribes from that organization in order to harm the credibility of those same journalists in reporting on a bribery scandal surrounding de Santibañes and President de la Rua, as well as requiring her to spread false information to the press concerning de la Rua’s political opponent, Dr. Carlos Menem. The charges and counter-charges related here are from the papers in the court file, as are the other facts.

A request that occasioned controversy between Miss Lolavar and the defendants was Morris and Stone’s request that she serve as an intermediary in an anonymous wire transfer of funds to an official in Israel. These funds were to be paid to secure intelligence files from the Israeli government to assist de la Rua’s political domestic disputes with Menem, and to imply a corrupt relationship between Menem and George W. Bush, who was then running against Albert Gore for the United States presidency. These files were to be altered by Miss Lolavar to appear to be SIDE documents.

When the defendants became concerned that this plot would be discovered and traced back to them, they ordered Miss Lolavar to orchestrate a press response to blame Vice President Gore for the dissemination of the documents, since it was known to them that the Gore campaign had been attempting to connect Menem with the Bush campaign.

Besides her DNC failures she also sponsors pay Day Loan industry legislation...even to the point of making sure anything that might bother it doesn't get in our democratic platform...like short term loans at the Post Office. She's another corporatist DLC Dem who wants to cater to Wall street and the big banks for funding to the poitn of allowing lobbyists in to our conventions to see who they can bribe.
So why are you even posting this thread anyway? Get off the fainting couch and watch this manipulating player get promoted by the Clinton team. Awww she deserves it you'll say, which is just as obnoxious as claiming she is being bullied rather being called to account.

381. How can someone who refused to endorse Democrats in Florida for vulnerable Republican seats...

...EVER wind up as head of the DNC. She should have been booted in 2008.

The fact that she wasn't raises alot of questions.

In 2008 Debbie Wasserman Schultz refused to endorse these 3 Democrats
who had won their Primaries and had a chance to win Republican seats:

Miami-Dade Democratic Party Chair Joe Garcia

Former Hialeah Democratic Mayor Raul Martinez

Democratic businesswoman Annette Taddeo

All three had won their local Democratic Primaries, and were challenging Hard Core Republican incumbents with whom Wasserman-Schultz had become cozy.
Not only did the head of the DCCC Red to Blue Program REFUSE to endorse these Democratic challengers,
but she appeared in person at at least one (possibly more) Campaign/Fundraiser for their Republican opponents.

FL-18, FL-21, FL-25: Wasserman Schultz Wants Dem Challengers to Lose
by: James L.
Sun Mar 09, 2008 at 7:15 PM EDT
<snip>

Sensing a shift in the political climate of the traditionally solid-GOP turf of the Miami area, Democrats have lined up three strong challengers -- Miami-Dade Democratic Party chair Joe Garcia, former Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez, and businesswoman Annette Taddeo to take on Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart, Lincoln Diaz-Balart and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, respectively.

While there is an enormous sense of excitement and optimism surrounding these candidacies, some Democratic lawmakers, including Florida Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Kendrick Meek, are all too eager to kneecap these Democratic challengers right out of the starting gate in the spirit of "comity" and "bipartisan cooperation" with their Republican colleagues:

But as three Miami Democrats look to unseat three of her South Florida Republican colleagues, Wasserman Schultz is staying on the sidelines. So is Rep. Kendrick Meek, a Miami Democrat and loyal ally to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

This time around, Wasserman Schultz and Meek say their relationships with the Republican incumbents, Reps. Lincoln Diaz-Balart and his brother Mario, and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, leave them little choice but to sit out the three races.

"At the end of the day, we need a member who isn't going to pull any punches, who isn't going to be hesitant," Wasserman Schultz said.

Now, you'd expect this kind of bullshit from a backbencher like Alcee Hastings, but you wouldn't expect this kind of behavior from the co-chair of the DCCC's Red to Blue program, which is the position that Wasserman Schultz currently holds. Apparently, Debbie did not get Rahm's memo about doing whatever it takes to win:

The national party, enthusiastic about the three Democratic challengers, has not yet selected Red to Blue participants. But Wasserman Schultz has already told the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee that if any of the three make the cut, another Democrat should be assigned to the race.

http://www.swingstateproject.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=1537

The bloggers also are furious with Rep. Kendrick B. Meek (D-Fla.), who similarly refuses to endorse the Democratic challengers to the three Cuban American Republicans.

They are calling for Wasserman Schultz to step down from her leadership role at the DCCC. And they're not letting up, even after one Florida liberal blogger reported that the congresswoman seemed "frustrated" by the blogs and had asked to "please help get them off my back."

This prompted even harsher reaction from perhaps the most influential of the progressive political bloggers, Markos Moulitsas, a.k.a. Kos, founder of Daily Kos, who wrote on his blog Wednesday: "On so many fronts, the Republicans are standing in the way of progress, on Iraq, SCHIP, health care, fiscal responsibility, corruption, civil liberties, and so on. Those three south Florida Republicans are part of that problem. And she's (Wasserman-Schultz) going to be 'frustrated' that people demand she do her job?"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/19/AR2008031903410_3.html

Here are Kos comments on the Wasserman-Schultz betrayal of the Democratic Party:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/03/20/480511/-DCCC-Says-Uproar-Over-DWS-Recusal-Much-Ado-About-Nothing

A lot of time has passed since 2008, but I don't take these kinds of betrayals lightly. Now I find that DWS has been PROMOTED from Chair of the Red to Blue Program
to Chair of the DNC. She must be making the "Centrist" Democratic Leadership VERY HAPPY if they are rewarding THIS kind of Party Treason.

116. Norman Solomon on now. He is NOT working for unity. He is still running to elect Bernie.

I really want to see some evidence that the DNC actually DID something to hinder Bernie's campaign. They let him off the hook for the many FEC violations that are on record; they let him off the hook for the unauthorized access to HRC contributor lists. They actually let him off the hook for the almost GOP-like trashing of the Democratic nominee. It is sickening what they are doing right now. People who worked hard for the party for years are being disrespected (not just DWS). I will be happy when this convention is over so I can get out and campaign for the Clinton/Kaine ticket. I am going to work even harder.

The least they can do is allow someone who IS actually a Democrat and has been for years working her buns off for the party to speak to the convention. Giver her a chance to apologize or make amends.

I don't believe this small group of extremely loud protesters are Sanders supporters as much as they are Hillary-haters. Sanders has already endorsed Hillary, and the vast majority of his supporters are uniting behind her in order to defeat DumbTrump.

The rodent-copulators protesting at the Democratic Convention are hiding behind and using Sanders' name to attack Democrats and Hillary Clinton for whatever real reasons they hold (paid trolling, hoping to weaken the Democratic nominee for the G.E., hoping for a Trump presidency to "teach us all a lesson", etc). And if DWS hadn't allied herself with Sheldon Adelson to kill medical marijuana reform in 2014 (note to jury: a factual statement), the taxpayers of FL might have better things to do with their money than harass sick people over some plants in their basement.

232. you tell me.

I've been a part of this community for 12 years, now, so I'm sure I've heard it all.

also, I already did the "research". That was what the link was for. This woman is a 53 year old medical marijuana patient from Maine, recently moved to florida, no criminal record, never been in trouble with the law, was followed home from a hydroponics store by cops who then searched her house and found pot plants.

http://www.wptv.com/news/region-martin-county/stuart/stuart-woman-faces-10-years-in-prison-in-medical-marijuana-case

This was in 2014, the same year DWS allied herself with Sheldon Adelson's anti-drug org to kill measure 2 in Florida.

This woman is now facing 10 years in prison. 10 years! How the fuck is society served by this? "well, she broke the law"- and one either has to believe that she moved to Florida, not knowing anyone, with the intent to become a marijuana kingpin, OR she moved down south- as people are wont to do- because she's getting older and has health problems (obviously, medical marijuana patient, remember?)..

He says Kirouac, who moved here from Maine, had a recommendation from her doctor there to use cannabis - and that should be honored here.

"People like Bridgit Kirouac who are 50-years-old are the majority of my clients around this state," Minardi says. "We're not talking about kids, we're not talking about drug dealers, we're talking about people who are legitimately using cannabis for medical reasons."

***

"The reason that I was growing my own medicine was because I didn't know anybody here," she says. "I live my whole life doing everything that I can to avoid any more pain than I already have."

If Debbie Wasserman Schultz had done the right thing in 2014, this woman might not be facing prosecution. And, again, 10 years in prison.

There's your research.

11. Yes I am, and I'm getting pissed.

There is something very ugly going on and when you start making the connection between Assange, Putin, Trump and the wiki-leaks of the DNC emails, it is starting to stink like a rotting corpse. Now Joy Reid of MSNBC has started seeing something and guess what:

https://twitter.com/wikileaks/status/757092238400913408 Wikileaks is threatening her with "lawyers". Some more history going on here also: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028041899

Isn't it interesting that DWS is Jewish and they are accusing her of being anti Jewish because Bernie is of that same religious group. I'm much more concerned about what is beginning to appear to be Putin/Russian interference in our elections and Trump's extreme praise/hero worship of a dictator. I've never subscribed to conspiracy theories, but there seems to be more here than a lot of people are willing to look at.

Assange got what he wanted: to stir the shit between the Sanders and Clinton factions in order to damage the convention and possibly the election. Taking down an uppity Jewish woman was just an added bonus.

As a Senator he should well know that this is foreign interferance in an election. Spying, hacking, stealing data and timing the leak before the Dem Convention was done to to gain influence in a US election.
Sanders knows the serious implications of this action.
I want to see him step forward & do something with that.

If not for the Leaks the reporting would be about Trump's foreign ties. I.e. Manafort, Ukraine, Putin, Russia, NATO...
Wiki timed the leak for a reason.

I think Bernie's speech tomorrow night will go a long way toward cooling down some of the hotter heads. 113. Some people are so willing, and so quick, to smear a Democrat on a Democratic Party supporting site

because of their personal and extreme dislike of that Democrat without asking themselves WHY that anti-American third-party site never, ever hacked the RNC. This should outrage all Americans, not have them jump on the carcass of one of our own.

Evidence is surfacing that Putin is behind this hacking and leaks, having completely "weaponized" Wikileaks in order to get his buddy, DumbTrump, into the White House so that Moscow can run the U.S. - and we're supposed to be a-ok with that??

In the Defense One article, entitled, "How Putin Weaponized Wikileaks to Influence the Election of an American President", it makes the case that Putin is behind this:

Here’s the timeline: On June 14, cybersecurity company CrowdStrike, under contract with the DNC, announced in a blog post that two separate Russian intelligence groups had gained access to the DNC network. One group, FANCY BEAR or APT 28, gained access in April. The other, COZY BEAR, (also called Cozy Duke and APT 29) first breached the network in the summer of 2015.

Cybersecurity company FireEye first discovered APT 29 in 2014 and was quick to point out a clear Kremlin connection. “We suspect the Russian government sponsors the group because of the organizations it targets and the data it steals. Additionally, APT 29 appeared to cease operations on Russian holidays, and their work hours seem to align with the UTC +3 time zone, which contains cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg,” they wrote in their report on the group. Other U.S. officials have said that the group looks like it has sponsorship from the Russian government due in large part to the level of sophistication behind the group’s attacks.

It’s the same group that hit the State Department, the White House, and the civilian email of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The group’s modus operandi (a spearphishing attack that uploads a distinctive remote access tool on the target’s computer) is well known to cyber-security researchers.
http://www.defenseone.com/technology/2016/07/how-putin-weaponized-wikileaks-influence-election-american-president/130163/

235. Here you go

This is from March 9, 2008. I didn't find any reference to whether or not she was state party chair at the time. I do know that in Minnesota, DFL rules wouldn't let a person be a precinct chair after this kind of behavior and there's no way you'd get elected to the DNC.

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/article24478039.html

[div class = "excerpt"]
Democrats torn between party, GOP friends

Democratic party leaders have tapped Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to raise money and coach candidates in a high-stakes, aggressive bid to expand the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives.

But as three Miami Democrats look to unseat three of her South Florida Republican colleagues, Wasserman Schultz is staying on the sidelines. So is Rep. Kendrick Meek, a Miami Democrat and loyal ally to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

That wasn't the case just two years ago when the pair flouted a long-standing Florida delegation agreement to not campaign against colleagues and vigorously backed Ron Klein in his winning bid to oust veteran Republican Rep. Clay Shaw.

This time around, Wasserman Schultz and Meek say their relationships with the Republican incumbents, Reps. Lincoln Diaz-Balart and his brother Mario, and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, leave them little choice but to sit out the three races.

The decision comes as Democrats believe they have their best shot in years to defeat at least one of the Cuban-American incumbents with a roster of Democrats that include former Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez, outgoing Miami-Dade Democratic party chair Joe Garcia and businesswoman Annette Taddeo.

But Wasserman Schultz and Meek say their ties to the three Republicans are personal as well as professional: Both served in the state Legislature with Mario Diaz-Balart and say they work in concert with all three on South Florida issues.

where she campaigned and endorsed Republicans. They were friends, kinda like Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Scalia. That makes me shiver. Yet I love her for all she has stood for. Different types of people can be friends without agreeing to their opinions. She has been there for all of us.

Hell, I had GOPers in my family, I loved them and they loved me. Enough said.

264. Not campaigning for the Democratic candidates and "sitting it out"

was the tacit endorsement of the Republicans.

Ginsburg may have been friends with Scalia, but she didn't hesitate to disagree with his opinons. DWS should have done the same and worked for a Democratic majority in the House - let her good friends know it was "just politics".

She had no business every being chair of the DNC if she wasn't willing to put winning elections at the top of her priority list.

There are people here that are not here for good reasons. They went away for a few weeks and they are back. Tag teams. They come in numbers. Their intent, tear Democrats apart. Division. I know where they come from, so easy to follow them back..............to............

No, no I did not. I said she should never have been DNC chair after tacitly supporting Republicans for Congress rather than working for a Democratic majority.

And, while I have not been posting much, I never went away and I am not tag teaming with anyone as you implied.

I also am still in good standing with the DFL and continue to hold party office something DWS would not have been allowed to do in Minnesota with her support of Republicans. She was the one trying to tear Democrats apart, not just in Florida in 2008, but this past year as well.

317. Thank you for replying... I had had written a post and then by accident, hit the x box on DU and

lost the whole thing...

We have some major issues in FL with our Democratic Party Elites choosing time and time again to support corporate friendly, nearly Republican like, candidates, and using dirty, nasty tactics to keep "outsiders" out. Maybe FL is like a test state for the National Party at large? Or maybe Debbie ran the National Party as she did because she only knows FL politics.

Seriously, in 2010, after a major banking crash, the Dem elites chose to back Alex Sink, who worked for Bank of America. People were hemorrhaging jobs and their homes and in FL the real estate market and the scandalous loans created a nightmare that we still haven't' escaped. (plus it was a mid-term election and the Tea Party was being whipped into a frenzy).

Also, in that same year, Charlie Crist wanted to move to the Senate, but he hugged Obama. So, he went I and the Dem party tried to get Meek to drop out of the election (needless to say, we got the man-child Rubio because the vote was split). AND then, the party chose to back him when he changed his party affiliation to Dem and run for Gov again in another mid-term election where Dems were annihilated. (It's not like Republicans were going to stop being Republican for the "traitor" Crist). AND many Democratic supporters felt absolutely ill having to work to try and elect someone who changed parties to favor himself mainly... He gave us right wing supreme court nominees and a slew of nasty legislation... Why? We had no other Democratic candidates? (BTW, he's running for the House or Reps now with full "elite" backing). And Patrick Murphy is their "horse" choice for senate. He started out Republican as well. Just another Daddy wealthy elite who bought his way into the party. Goldman Sachs is his top contributor. AND they call Alan Grayson a crook... LOL. ( I hope he wins, he will dismantle Rubio if he can get past Murphy and the Dem Party picking favorites again.)

This state needs to desperately acknowledge climate change and begin the work of trying to shore up salt water encroachment, prepare for storms... Under Rick Scott the environment has really taken a beating... AND this jerk doesn't even acknowledge it exists. Women have to wait to get an abortion for 24hrs now. Right to shoot anyone. Shitty paying jobs without expanded medicaid opt in. Refused the Federal funding for the fast train between Tampa and Orlando (that would probably be in operation by now and providing good jobs, solar industry growth, and easier passage between Tampa and Orlando, allowing people who lived in either city to easily work in one or the other, or to play in one or the other without 2 or 3 hrs of traffic (30 mins on a train sounds so much better than driving that route). NOT to mention what he has done to teachers and other service types of jobs like police and their pensions/ pay. He is such an asshole.. AND yet, the elites felt that Alex Sink and Charlie Crist would be the candidates that would excite the base or turn out more votes than the Republicans could strip and flip?

385. I guess I don't need proof when I've lived the damage of volunteering

With GOTV efforts year after year... They disenfranchise any true progressive Demciratic voice, and then ask us to help because Republicans truly are so much more awful in this state...

And again, if you only have a Republican and a Drmocrat trying to run on a republican-lite center trail, it's nearly impossible to shift the mid-term electorate into the voting booths. People need clear choices in differences. And do you know how strane it feels to be a progressive trying to phone bank or knock on doors for these "elite choices"?

Like I said, so many have thrown up their hands and refuse to continue with the FL Dems... Debbie was just more disasterous than her previous chairs in "picking" candidates to run.

75. I feel sorry for her. How bullying works: projection and scapegoating.

Bullying is a form of scapegoating and projection. We know that scapegoating is a hostile socio-psychological discrediting operation in which people move blame and responsibility away from themselves and towards a target person or group. It is also a practice were angry feelings and inappropriate accusation are placed on others. Quite understandably, the target feels persecuted and receives misplaced vilification, blame and criticism; and the victim is likely to suffer rejection from those who the perpetrator seeks to influence and again, an increasing feeling of isolation. We live in a society where bullying has become increasingly acceptable, and certainly, as form of doing politics....

Scapegoating has a wide range of focus: from “approved” enemies of very large groups of people down to the scapegoating of individuals by other individuals. The scapegoater’s target always experiences a terrible sense of being personally edited and re-written, with the inadequacies of the bully inserted into public accounts of their character, isolation, ostracism, exclusion and sometimes, expulsion and elimination. The sense of isolation is often heightened by other people’s reluctance to become involved in challenging bullies, usually because of a bystander’s own discomfort and fear of reprisal....

Bullying becomes obvious when you scrutinise who is actually doing the attacking on a personal level. Debate and political criticism are one thing: personal commentaries, character assassinations, attacks, threats, abuse and harassment are bullying. I have seen that quite often, bullying tactics include manipulating people’s perceptions to portray themselves as the injured party, with their target being the villain. However, again, scrutiny of who is actually instigating and doing the personal attacking will reveal the real bully or bullies.

Bullies show a complete lack of remorse for the damage they are intending to inflict on their target.Victim-blame narratives aside, it’s never wise to ignore bullying; bullies use provocation to elicit a response from their target and if you ignore it the provocation will simply get worse. That is the nature of bullying. Ignoring a bully actually gives him/her permission to continue bullying. Ignoring a bully sends the signal that it is acceptable to bully that person....

Just like Bush supporters refused to implicate him even with a mountain of evidence in their face. Just like a family member cannot see the harm their child is doing. It's called bias. The anti-DWS doesn't have bias because unlike the bs you make ingested we are democrats and go in hoping for the best until facts prove something different. Hillary just named Debbie honorary chair of her campaign. Kinda like Bush giving Rummy or Tenet the Medal of Honor...simple PR damage control. I hoped we were above that.

I'd wager that most of this piling on DWS has to do with Bernie losing the nomination. It's an opportunity to let off a lot of steam from the sting of defeat within DU's new policies, and that's understandable.

But DWS does not deserve this, IMO. An awful lot of accusations and very little actual evidence to make the case.

How about this:

1. Hillary's primary supporters quit acting like the DNC did not assist Secretary Clinton from the get go;

We all need to quit acting like we had no idea that national committees work this way. This denial on one side and faux outrage on the other is just disingenuous

I have supported Bernie from Day 1 and I knew it from Day 1. Bernie just repeated it this morning.

Why in God's name are we still talking about it?

UNITE.

They support the person who they think will be best for the PARTY. If course they supported a long term member more than a short term member, it was in their best interest to choose the person who said nice things about them. That's simply how shit works!!!

DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a close ally of Hillary Clinton, is trying to gut regulations on loan sharks
BEN NORTON

TUESDAY, MAR 1, 2016 02:30 PM CST

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the chair of the Democratic National Committee, has joined the Republican assault on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren helped create the bureau in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis in order to protect Americans from the malicious practices of the financial industry — particularly banks, toxic mortgage lenders, debt collectors and payday loan companies.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has created pending new regulations in order to protect Americans from payday loan sharks, companies that make enormous profits off of predatory lending, exploiting the poor and uneducated by advertising quick and convenient loans while downplaying the concomitant skyrocketing interest. The bureau hopes to rein in the industry.

Not if the DNC can stop it, however. For Wasserman Schultz has thrown her weight behind the Republican effort to sabotage the bureau’s proposed regulations of the out-of-control predatory lending.

I am indeed tired of the way Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has been bullying the progressive wing of the Democratic party.

But of course you didn't mean it that way, you just phrased it poorly enough to be read ambivalently.

And then the thread degenerated into the usual racist attacks against White civil rights advocates.

Rightly or wrongly she has become a distraction and needed to go. As John Kennedy said "life is unfair." That being said I don't see the need to kick her in the ass on the way out.

And let none of us forget the genesis of this brouhaha was Putin's minions leaking these e-mails on the eve of our Convention to embarrass the Democrats and help his pal Donald Trump.

The outrage is justified and serves to offset the use Tramp will get outta her efforts, like pressing the corruption case he'd not have but for that she quit over. Our silence would be tantamount to consent, or is this another example of a demand that we sit down and shutup so Donald can say we're alright with it, which no doubt would be helpful in gaining a win, no?

My two cents: Debbie will be just fine. She did her job during the primaries and now that some troubling information has come to light, did her job again by falling on her sword to take the heat off. I have no doubt she'll be rewarded for all of this in due time, either with a government position or a cushy lobbyist's role.

Why does she need to be on the ticket Warren? Women have unique qualities and abilities. Some shine in Congress and some like, RBG shine in SCOTUS. Elizabeth Warren, I never wanted her on the ticket, her strength is where she is. In the Senate.

Why should DWS be there? She is going back to Congress to shine. You don't need to push us all into one tiny ticket. We are bigger than that, we are stronger than that and we are far more brilliant than that. Just watch us!

the ones she did allow, placed on low watching times.

She has been absolutely dreadful. Maybe she is good as a conservative Republican, but not as the leader of the Democratic party.

Her leaving the party helps restore cred to the party and help progressives be more enthusiastic in this election.

Good for the Dems!

Of course the party prefers the candidate that is long term and reliable, not only that they prefer the person who says positive things about the party and is opposed to those who call the party corrupt. That is what a political party does!!! It represents the interests of the party!

Why people think the party should support an attempt to tear it down and change it, I do not KNOW! That is not what a party is for. Those debates were boring as hell and I hate my shows being taken off for a boring ass debate once a week.

I'm fine with her leaving but the sexist shit and the bullying needs to end. There is no excuse for the bullying that she is experiencing right now.

Obviously having a fair election process to find out who the VOTERS want is no longer important to The Party.. Maybe it's the Wall Street banks and global corporations calling the shots????

229. No, I'm glad to see her gone.

I am a fairly heavy duty Hillary supporter, but I have wanted DWS out for a long time now. Why?

1) She SHOULD have remained impartial in the election, and clearly was not. This has led to a lot of unnecessary bad blood between the centrists and the progressives.
2) She should have been riding herd on the DNC, and should have made sure that there was no hint of impropriety there. This kind of email exchange doesn't occur in a vacuum, and her views about Sanders were well known.
3) She's been abusing her position in Florida to control how money is getting to Dem races there, and it has left a lot of good, progressive democrats both struggling and angry with the party. This is not how you get people to run for office.
4) Payday Loans. Enough said there.
5) She has projected an elitist attitude that has not only turned many people off, but that seems out of odds with the message. Personally, I think she has done damn as much damage to Clinton as ANY Republican.
6) There has seldom been any question that she was building her own power base, at the very real expense of doing the damn job.
7) She also set the tone elsewhere, including in Nevada and Colorado, that Sanders was NOT the preferred candidate, and this in turn exacerbated situations at the caucus level especially.

I could go on, but I think the list is pretty comprehensive. She was a good fundraiser, but that has been turned into a liability because it now makes things look increasingly like she was cozying up to precisely the moneyed interests so many in this party are frankly getting tired of. Where's the social media networks, the outreach campaigns, the GOTV efforts?

No, I'm not sorry to see her go. I think she blew it, big time, and this email release this weekend (while disturbing in its own right) was just the final straw.

From my point of view she is just being held accountable for biases in the DNC that she denied many many times.

A lot of Bernie supporters were told to STFU if there wasn't any proof aside from the decisions that were made.

But in the long run this won't have any impact on the election unless DWS comes out with a full confession that she was colliding with HRC.

250. I don't really think she is being bullied

I have seen a lot of greatly trumped up accusations against her (no pun intended). Sure, there many at the DNC that clearly favored Clinton over Sanders but any accusation that they somehow stole the election from Sanders is ridiculous. Sanders was clearly a throne in their sides, especially late in the primaries and some expressed their grievances in private emails but the idea that they somehow greatly swayed the primaries in Clinton's favor lacks any evidence.

With that said though, DSW was a god awful DNC chairwoman. She did nothing to help the democrats in 2014 and overall, she was rather incompetent. In addition, it was obvious that she was at least quietly rooting for Clinton, which is no surprise, since she has been friends with Clinton for years. However, at the same time, the evidence that the DNC was in the bag for Clinton and sabotaged Sanders is extremely weak to nonexistent.

I'm glad she is gone but the mastermind behind Clinton rise, she was not. The odds that Sanders was going to win the nomination were always fairly low. It shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone that a very popular figure within the Democratic Party was heavily supported by members of that party, early on and that an outsider, that was not a member of the party until this year, was more likely to face steep odds in wresting that support from Clinton.

267. What distinguishes opposition from bullying?

A bully is defined as "a blustering, quarrelsome, overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people." Bullying is defined as "to act the bully toward; intimidate; domineer."

I can understand that people have widely divergent views on party policy and organizational matters.

I was here and remember the Left getting lambasted for the fault of our loses in 2010...then it was discovered it was moderates that failed to show up in numbers...not the Left.

So I take a lot with a grain of salt now, since the morale beatings in 2010 I wised up to the game here by some. DWS is fine, she will go on to great things and I am glad she is gone and we can get on now with beating Trump. I think that was the original goal.

To some people, the validity or invalidity of a criticism is of no importance. Criticism of DWS is bullying. By contrast, pointing out an error in a particular criticism of someone odious means that one is defending that person and is a supporter.

Those simple-minded souls will probably agree with you, and there are (far too) many of them, so I would say that, no, you aren't the only one.
